  1. Ditto, if you do break it down I would be interested in the galaxies- David (dmendel@gwu.edu)
  2. I purchased a rose bulb anemone clone from Alvin on e-bay, see link below. I thought if anyone else wanted one from him (AC7228@aol.com) we could share shipping costs. He sells them for around $55 + shipping. e-mail me at dmendel@gwu.edu if you want to share shipping costs. thanks, David http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....ry=3212
  3. I would also like to have some caulerpa. would also be interested in one frag each of the Red/Green/purple monti. can help with labor over the holidays -thanks, David- dmendel@gwu.edu
  4. 75 gal tank and stand FS. tank is not drilled but is in great shape, same with commercial stand. sorry, don't remember manufactor, will it be on the bottom? looking for $50 on the tank and $75 for the stand, $110 for both. you can e-mail me at dmendel@gwu.edu David M. PS if you go with a 75 gal tank you definately want the remorpro skimmer, not the bakpak. the backpak only skims about ~60% of the remorapro, in my opinion. I would only put the bakpak on a tank of 50 gals or less, again IMHO. David
  5. I have both a backpak and remorapro I can sell since I don't use them anymore. these are both hang-on-the-back (HOB) skimmers. You need to decide if you want a skimmer hanging on the back of your tank, or one in the sump. If you want a HOB I can figure out a price for the backpak and remorapro (the backpak will be cheaper, although the remora pro has a crack but it doesn't alter its use). let me know by email if you like, dmendel@gwu.edu David M.
  6. I'm pretty sure I have one too. I'm in Vienna if that's closer. David M.
  7. I'm sorry some of you didn't get a chance to pick up some xenia. I gave a lot to Sam, after that I went into a tank moving frenzy due to time constraints. Although I hope none of it grows back, I expect that it will and will be able to give out more stalks soon. David
  8. Gary, I live in Vienna, No Virginia. Off lawyers rd, between maple and Hunter Mill. 703-242-4357 Sam and David -- will try to call you later day (sat). thanks, David Have just started the migration, not too sure how fast I'll go, will see how things adapt. but I hope to be done within a wk at the latest, hopefully sooner.
  9. I will be migrating the livestock from one tank to another in the next couple of days, and will prune, if not demolish, the weed that is called xenia. please contact me ASAP if you would like to pick some up. I may keep some in my sump, but it would be best to pick it up now before the system gets disturbed. thanks, David M.
  10. I don't need 100#, but if anyone is interested in splitting this LR and can make it up to Baltimore let me know, thanks, David
  11. I think my problem was compounded by the error the water was just entering into the flat bulkhead straight on (on the back top of the tank). took it apart last night and put it an elbow facing down which seems to help. will try re-building it tonight, if I can find the parts, following the original Durso specs more exactly - mainly making the plumbing T and downspout > bulkhead, right now they are equal (1 inch). wish me luck, i need to fix this yesterday. thanks for all the advice, david
  12. sorry, i should have mentioned I put a cap on top of the T and drilled holes of various sizes with no success. will try the tubing tonight, otherwise I may have to redo the entire drain system. any other advice would be appreicated.
  13. I?m having trouble with the returns on my new setup gurgling. It is a 180 gal tank with two one inch holes in the back of the tank. The flow is via an Iwaki 70RLT which pumps about 1300 gph at this head of 10 feet. I put a diagonal plexiglass wall running along the back of the tank so the water needs to flow over this wall to enter the holes in the back of the tank, which are about 2? from the top of the tank, and 1? below the plexiglass waterfall. The waterfall works great and makes no sound. I put a PVC T after the holes, and 1? flexible PVC runs down 10? to the sump. It looks something like this (looking down across the length of the tank) |- / . The gurgling occurs at the T as the water begins to fall out of the T into the pipe. If I block off the top of the T (making it into an elbow of sorts) the water level drops until air is sucked into the holes of the tank making another gurgling sound. So how do I stop the suction and sucking of air into the return? I tried lowering the flow (increasing resistance on the pump) but that only made the gurgling less frequent but just as loud. Should I put resistance on the returns? Thanks for any advice. Plumbing is not my friend.
  14. Am interested in all of the LR and CO2 bottle. let me know if you're interested in breaking it up and what prices you want. thanks, David

    The LFS

Gav, I can second (or third) all of the above responses. I also tried selling xenia to some local LFS about 3 yrs ago. At first, one of the stores was somewhat eager, and I think i got about $30 or so per stalk, but after another couple of months I couldn't give the stuff away. I think it became so avail it lost all of its value. I just flush the stuff now - because I don't know what else to do. Anyway, congrats on the success, but be careful to not let the xenia take over. that's a mistake I'll try to not to repeat. David
  17. the larger type reflector I have measures 19 1/4" x 19 3/8 " x 9" HTH- David
  18. I am using the larger ones, which I think are about 20" square, if not larger. My hope is to use 3 on a 180 gal tank, the tank is 2' x 2' x 6'. I think they'll look good enough to be positioned above the tank without any canopy, so at least there will be some open air above the tank. Little light should escape from the sides. They come with an arm attachment which I was going to attach to the wall with a hinge so they would be easy to raise. Even the wife agreed they looked ok from the outside! hope this info helps. David
  19. I read about them closing on a couple of threads on Reef Central, as well as suppliers (mostly gardening) who sold their stuff. At least two told me Diamond was going out of business as well as had their phone disconnected. It's a shame - I've always liked their products - I have an full 175 MH system from them. I remember talking to Jason at Premium Aquatics about why he discontinued selling their stuff (a couple of yrs ago) and he found them a pain to deal with. David
  20. After getting one diamond lumenarc III reflector I have beensearching for two more. In this process I have found out Diamond lighting is going out of business. I found two more from another supplier, which cleans both of those suppliers out. I thought I'd post this to let anyone know who wanted these reflectors they needed to act ASAP. Two places I was going to try, but didn't need to are Pacific garden supply 415-444-5550 and greencoast hydroponics 510-333-2023 David M.
  21. Now if only someone is willing and able to purchase a tunable laser and determine which wavelengths are best for which corals.....
  22. the home depot at merrifield has an ' silicone aquarium sealant' but i don't remember how much it costs, sorry. might be worth checking out.
  23. Although I am a member, I can't see the members only forums - David Mendelowitz
