  1. IMHO I would do less frequent but larger water changes. instead of 15gal a week for a 125g, I would do something like 30 gal every three weeks. hang in there - you will win the battle with patience.
  2. uhm....anyone else interested? Could rent a uhaul from HD for transport.
  3. I would be happy to take all the fish. I have a 180 gal at home and a fish-empty 54 gal tank at work. Feel bad obtaining for free- what could I offer in return? Best, David
  4. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/massive-berlin-aquarium-bursts_n_639c2dfee4b0f4895ada3a27 ouch. I'm heartbroken.
  5. I would....but unfortunately I already have this coral. X1000. good luck with the new venture
  6. welcome. and love the ULTRA RARE RAINBOW GHOST ACROPORA TENUIS $764,000.00
  7. Given what little I know about the issue with Turkey's Tropic Marin Pro-Reef Salt Mix problems - I think I better switch brands. I've been using TMPro for yrs now - and haven't been keeping up with the other options. I know everyone has their favorite salt brand - but anyone do this switch with brand XXX and was happy with the outcome? first water change half TM Pro - half new mix? thanks for the help.
  8. welcome! If you not looking for end end coral I think a lot of people will be willing to give you some stuff for free to get started. And again - welcome.
  9. It'll only wipe out half your reef if you snap it to frag it.
  10. I forgot to mention another change from 20 yrs ago -corals were given names like "green slimer" - because it was green, and, well, slimy when fragged. We ddin't have the creativity (or marketing) to name corals like "thano's ring around asgard". I hope I'm not stepping on a real name.
  11. thanks for making me feel old, especially a few days after my birthday. The first meeting was in my garage, in early 2000, it was with 3 other people, and we talked about helping someone with their canopy. That was a time when I could sell xenia to a LFS for store credit, skimmers were tall and narrow, MH were the new light source, and yellow tangs sold for $20. Thankfully other people with more dedication and intelligence than me got involved, too many to mention, but I will give a shoutout to Michael Gerdes, who was among the first to really help launch WAMAS to what it is today. As for the boards - this is at least the third? version. I don't think the first two are accessible anymore - but someone else likely knows much more about that than I do.
  12. If you have the time and flexiblity - setup the new tank 2 or more weeks before your move. Then you can bring the livestock over into a newly cycled tank. Downside is running two tanks at 2 locations for the transition period. I did that when I moved long distance - worked out well.
  13. I'm filling up my laundry machine with waste water while making Ro/DI as we "speak".
  14. I found this link interesting, and it indicates individuals can be affected multiple times upon multiple exposures. Given its main site of action is on the Na-K-ATPase, I expect those transporters turn over every few days in each cell, so a person's recovery is probably due (in part) to the synthesis of new Na-K-ATPase proteins, occurring over a couple of days. As far as repetitive exposures - my guess if the exposures are separated by more than a few days - there would likely be little difference - ie the effects upon the second exposure would just as severe as those from the first. If they occurred less than a few days apart you could get a cumulative - additive - dose of toxicity. Not sure how the body eliminates the toxin though, and how long that takes, so that's another big unknown - at least for me. sorry - this overlaps with my day job a bit. Not sure if this helps answer your Qu. https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm6431a4.htm
