  1. My tank is drilled about 6" below the water line and instead of a 90 on the outside I have a tee. The tee has a riser that goes up above the tank water line w/ a cap that is drilled w/ a small hole for air to enter. I have a ball valve at the bottom that I use to keep the drain lines half full of water. After fine tunning the waterfall sound is reduced. I'll post some pics in the gallery.
  2. Gator-It looks like your getting more with less! Just wondering why you decided to lower the bubs and drips?
  3. My well fed yellow tang eats the polyps from my toadstool and xenia.
  4. Yes, they are the same kinda tanks.
  5. Geo- Was wondering if you could clear something up for me. I am still trying to dial my reactor in and I just got really confused. I must be missing something. If only 1 cup per hour of water goes in how does almost 1/2 a cup per minute come out? That is like 30 cups an hour not one. Teach me oh wise one. :D
  6. Snapper, Like CBO said the K rating doesn't matter as long as it is the right wattage for the ballast. How cheap is cheap? CBO, You have the M81. M80 is 250W HQI M81 is 150W HQI
  7. F&M in hyattsville has 10lb tanks for $75 al/$70 steel or 5lb tanks for $55 al/$50 steel. 301-277-6655 Just some numbers to help you while pricing. Check out Ebay and RC too.
  8. That sounds just like the one I found last week that I thought was a baby BTA. I have since found two more next to my large open brain. They are super sticky! I saw my checkered goby touch one and he took off away from it as if he got stung or something. All are resting in the sand.
  9. Snapper, I think going any lower then 5KK whould have the same effect as going with the higher kelvin bulbs. There just isn't enough balanced red and blue. You can get Venture 5.5kk pretty cheap. Although the hydroponics guys like the lower kelvin and go for warmer bulbs around 3KK. I have a new Sylvania 175 mogul you can try and see if it has any impact on growth. Maybe do an experiment for the club. :D
  10. When I had alot of grow out tanks I got faster growth from 5500k bulbs then from the 10kk bulbs. Just my experience. What is going to be in the prop tank?
  11. Sounds like some harmless hitchhikers. I too have several types of small snails that have never harmed a thing. If you can bag a few and bring them to the meeting to see if someone already has them and can tell you that they are safe or not.
  12. I doubt that you need a new housing since there isn't much that can go wrong with them. Air should not be entering the unit while it is on due to water pressure. It is likely just trapped air from prior maintenance. To remove air from the pressure vessel hold it with the outputs up and shake and whake like Mike said. That should remove all of the air in the vessel. I would crack the seal on the DI chamber and let it fill with water then seal it up to get that air out. Be sure when you change filters to always fill the chamber with water and then screw it on to minimize air in the system. You may already do that stuff but I just wanted to mention it.
  13. If they are tall enough you can cut the top off. The foot will regrow a new top. Place the cut top in a low flow area with some kind of rubble or CC substrate. It will grow a new foot and attach. If it is not tall enough you can cut them in half or just cut part of the foot off. HTH
  14. Are you using a rubber liner or epoxy paint for the inside? How are the corners braced because you are talking about alot of water pressure? Post more pics as it progresses.
  15. I have had two of them and they both loved frozen brine shrimp. If he doesn't take the homemade stuff give the brine shrimp a try. I added a checkered goby a month ago and my 6-line did the same thing. After three days the fin nipping stop. He also loves the brine.
  16. Mike, Just a word of caution. I have never had one but I have heard that Tube Anemones are like an Aiptasia. They reproduce like them too. Fast! You may want to look into them more before getting one.
  17. I would say it was the site having problems as I know of others who were unable to bring the site up as well.
  18. Thanks for the offer Scott. I cut the thing in half last night like Mr. Calfo said. I removed it from the tank and cut it in half. I then put it back into the main tank. Everything looks good and both are semi-inflated. The male clown stayed in the half that was closer to the eggs they had laid the night before while the female bounced between the two halves all evening. I will post some pics tonight.
  19. I did the logul's like you said. I guess I missed two!
  20. Happy Holidays to you all too. My Acros have been losing their color over the last few days and I just found out why! I got a nice present of RED BUGS!
  21. I sent Anthony Calfo an email asking how to split this guy and this is what he sent me.
  22. I have asked two times about a club discount and they told me the prices are already under other stores after discount prices. Which is kinda true. He also said that he has been to the board here and has seen the comments about the dead fish and aiptasia farm.

  24. I have seen a members fish room that had these tubs with a bungee cord for support in the middle. It seemed liked it worked fine.
  25. I have seen several members tanks w/ rubbermaid sumps. I have a 33gal rubber maid refugium on my tank and it works great. I made a hood from scrap 1x6's and plywood to hold the lights. This sits down around the top lip and keeps it from bowing.
