I don't think I have the clearance to put it too high but I think I could put it about 4-6 inches higher. I have a clearance issue but I think I can only raise it a few inches and still have the pump in the water. What is the valve you are talking about taking out? James, I use the chemicals instead of RO/DI. I should be getting Bemmers RO/DI next week and will be hooking that up. I would like to have it fill up a kitchen size trash can in my laundry and then have some sort of mag pump in the trash can with a tube ran to the tank. I can just plug the mag in when I want to top off. About 5 gallons a day. The Prime does say on the back that it won't make skimmers over produce but mine still is. I wonder if there is still the heavy slime coat from when I used the aqua safe. Thanks

Who would bash the Redskins on a WASHINGTON forum?

Adjusting the air seemed to be working but after a few days of trying to adjust that, it is back to being crazy. One thing I found out from Aquarium 1 is that the AquaSafe I was using to treat the water has a slime coat that makes skimmers go crazy. I have now started using Prime by SeaChem which claims to not do this. Anyways my skimmer is still going crazy. Is it defective? Can anyone help me get this thing working...please. I bought the skimmer used so it shouldn't be a breaking in issue. Also, the output seems pretty strong from the out tube so I don't think it's clogged.

Each polyp is about the size of a pencil eraser. I tried to Google cladcora and I didn't really get anything.

I've looked for a long time on websites for something that looked close and I can't find anything. Does this mean they aren't as common or that nobody would buy them so nobody sells them? If anyone else has a more specific ID for them I'd really appreciate it.

I bought some live rock a while back and it had some coral on it already. I didn't notice it right away and when I did, I assumed it was some type of zoos. The other day I was looking at my tank and saw a sweeper arm come out of this and start sweeping around. I didn't think this happened with Zoos. I'd appreciate it if anyone could ID this for me so I can properly care for it. Also, if anyone out there really likes it...I have several pieces so I am able to frag it. Thanks.

Does anyone have a preference on bottom feeders? I'm looking to get one for my 180 and have seen several that I like but want to know if there's one that would be better for my tank. I like the pink and blue goby and the spotted manderine goby. Are either one of those better or is there another I should consider? I've had my tank set up a few months and have bought and added copepods several times. Thanks.

I covered the out tube on my skimmer with a nylon sock and I still have the micro bubbles in my tank. Any other ideas I can try? If I put a piece of plexi glass across, even if it is not sealed to the corners and side, would this help? I was thinking about taking some of those big car wash sponges, slicing them down the sides and putting them on the end of the plexi glass and then sliding it in the sump. This way it would conform to the sides better. Would this work? Is there anything harmful on these sponges? Any better ideas? Thanks

I set up a 180 a few months ago and to cut the initial costs I used a large plastic tub as a sump with live rock and a return pump inside the sump. I didn't have a skimmer yet. Everything was fine and the tub was working well as a sump. I recently got an ASM G3 skimmer and my tank has tons of micro bubbles which makes it look terrible. I can't put in any baffles since the sides of the tub aren't square. My stand dimensions are 72"L x 24"W x 24 H. I wanted to see if anyone had a sump with baffles that would fit my skimmer and return pump and maybe some live rock and macro algae that they'd let go for a good price. I put this in General instead of WTB because if nobody has a sump I wanted to see if someone could help me build one. Thanks so much for reading. Scott

I took the air valve off my dad's skimmer and put it on to my G3 and now it's working fine. I'll just have to slowly let more air in until I can take it off.

I took the valve off my dad's skimmer and put it on mine and adjusted it so that the rate was managable. I guess I'll gradually open the valve until it can come off. Right? Thanks for everyone's fast responses and help.

James, I don't know of any mods it has but I probably wouldn't recognize it if I saw it. Rascal, I didn't rinse the skimmer before I put it in. I guess I was excited and jumped the gun. I used my dad's Sea Clone skimmer. Cheap hang on the back skimmer. I only used it for a few days though before I bought this one today. Thanks for the advice. I'll keep you posted on the progress and let you know when it settles down so you can walk me through the mods. Thanks again. Scott

So what should I do to fix it?

Here are pictures of what I'm getting with the tube all the way down. When I raise the tube it only makes more bubbles pour out faster.
-
When I have it all the way down, the entire neck is full of bubbles and since the cup stays full of water, the bubbles just pour over the sides. When I try to lift the tube, the bubbles just pour out faster.

I just got my first real skimmer today and don't know how to use it. I was told that all I really had to do was plug it in. I did that and there is foam just pouring out of the top. The cup filled up in about a minute and has stayed full. Do I just have to wait a few days or should I be adjusting something. There is a shaft on the side that slides up and down.. Not sure what it's called. Should I adjust that? Thanks.

Is someone going to pick a winner?

Is there any clown that I can get more than two?
-
Today when I came home I found my feather duster out of it's tube and about 6" - 8" away. It was the duster and it's leg and had been pulled out of the leg or jumped out. We stuck the leg back in the tube but it's hard to tell if it's ok. How can I tell if it's ok and why it did this. Thanks.

I currently have two anemones and 1 tomato clown. I want to add a bunch more percula clowns (4 or 5). I figure I'll have to get rid of my tomato to add the new clowns. Is that correct? Also, I have two anemones. How many of the percula clowns can I get. My tank is 180.

I have a 180 with 2 MH 250w lights, 2 110w T-12 actinics. I recently got two BTA anemones. I got them both from different people. The first one I put on a rock in a bucket as I acclimated it to my tank and then I put the rock pretty high up in the tank. The second one I put on the sand and was under the impression that it would find a spot it likes. After about 12 or so hours it made its way under a rock and completely out of the light. It has been there for a few weeks since then and has not moved at all. Doesn't it need to be in the light? Will it come out if it needs light or should I move it to a better spot?

Anyone know where this link is? I did a search and found nothing. If anyone is knowledgable about this topic and will PM me their number I can discuss on the phone...if this is easier. Thanks.

Does that mean the T5's will work or that I have to get PC or MH's? Will I be limited in the types of coral I can keep?
-
I have a 55 gallon tank that is up stairs in my house that I think I am going to start adding corals to soon. Right now the tank has 2 x 48" Coralife T5 fixtures. I wanted to see if these two strips would be enough or if I would have to go to PC or a MH fixture. The T5's each have one white bulb and one actinic.
