  1. What do you think is my safest bet for the night and until tomorrow afternoon when i will be able to get another?
  2. My aqualifter is no longer strong enough to pull air out of my cpr overflow. I just set my power head up to pull out the air. Any sugestions on what to do? I dont really trust the powerhead to save my tank from overflowing. Im thinking my choices are: 1) let the tank run with the powerhead sucking out the air 2) turn of the return pump and keep a heater in the display and another heater in the sump If i go with #2 ill let my acjr control temp in side tank, and let the heater in the sump use its own temp controller ANY SUGESTIONS???
  3. Where can I buy a 13W PC bulb locally?
  4. I really like the 40 breeder for a reef.
  5. I have had this happen to me too. My problem is that the "nipple" on the cpr and the airline tubing clogs with algae since it is so close to my lighting (limiting the suction of the aqualifter, if not stopping it). Normally I just clean out the algae every 2 weeks or so and I dont have any problems. I just replaced the clear tubing with black airline tubing, and i think this will solve my problem and prevent that algae.
  6. I remember reading on RC once about someone rinsing out their chaeto every water change I believe, and it just got me thinking. My chaeto is so dense that I was thinking it could be full of poop, waste, and other less desirable things. I was also planning on trashing my excess chaeto becuase I don't think anyone would want it, so I'd like to get the pods out before dumping it.
  7. Thanks, I find that turning the MJs that way makes them look smaller (important for a 20 gallon), and it pulls the jet closer to the wall, allowing an extra 2-3 in. of room for the water to move across the tank. Right now im trying 30 min alternation between MJs to see how I like it. I find the CPR overflow works fine, but I would rather have tank drilled. I just replaced the clear tubing for the aqualifter to black tubing because I was having an issue where the tube would grow algae and clog (The tank has overflowed about 1/2 a gallon twice because my tubing was clogged and I didnt catch it in time).
  8. I think it is time for me to trim my cheato. Now when I do this should i clean/rinse the chaeto? If so, how do I go about doing this? Should i rinse it through my tank water so that I do not lose all of my pods, or should I do this in waste water so that all the junk is removed from my tank? My cheato is packed with featherworms and pods, so what should i do about them when cleaning/trimming? Thanks! Also how much cheato should I have in the fuge? I read "enough to let it roll around in the fuge; does this sound right?
  9. I decided to drop my hydor rotating deflector and am going with alternating maxijets controlled by my ac jr. I wanted to know what people thought is best or had better experience with. Would it be better to switch between the two power heads every 30 sec, 1min, 5 min, 30min, every few hours??? I was thinking shorter alternations would simulated waves crashing where as the long intervals (+4 hrs) would be more like tide going in, then out. I also have a SCWD on my return which should be helping with some of the quick intervals (every 20 sec i guess). So what does everyone think?
