  1. I feed the bubble what ever is left from the other corals. But I have noticed it gets greener if it is not feed for awhile.

Beautiful tank! Do you feed your bubble? I had one a few years back - I really would love to get another.

  2. Dan,

I have a mated pair of false clowns (one is in the Goniopora if you look carefully), a yellow tang, a coral beauty, and a fat scooter blenny. I am adding fish slowly but can't add too many untill I get a hold of one of your skimmers.

  3. Thanks everyone.

    Bemmer,

The bubble coral was from Jon Lazar's break down. When fully expanded it covers an area about 10" across. The Goniopora was from Norboo's downsizing and was bought with a RBTA which found it home near the top center of the tank. I am target feeding the RBTA, Goniopora, and clam untill I get the funds for the T5s. So far everyone is doing great.

  4. Nat,

Look for a group buys to get really good deals. Group buys are going on all the time in many areas (it would also be good to let us know your location) , and that's what your membership pays access for. Usually, people get together to split shipping or qualify for free shipping. Sometimes it totals several hundred dollars worth of livestock between members. Then the seller sometimes goes out of their way to insure repeat customers.

However animals are always a risk whether from a LFS or over the net.

  5. I had a good experiences, with saltwaterfish.com, but with any livestock purchase one has to know their policy incase something happens before hand. It is always buy beware with livestock.

  6. Can you install lower wattage bulbs on a higher wattage rated metal halide ballast?

Are these mogul based fixtures the same as household sockets? Installing a 40 watt blub on a 60 max rated socket for example.

    Thanks for your input.

  7. Good day all,

I apologize in advance for not being able to supply a photo. I have seen these white shrimp like things ( some are silvery in color) about 0.5mm in length, with attena(sp) and praying mantis like appendages scurrying around my tank in the shadows and out in the open when the lights are out. There are a lot of them and they dont seem do be doing any harm but I would like to be able to I.D. these things.

    PODS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To some they are a good thing and some a nuisance.

I have a reef tank and they are food for my blenny.

  8. I am also looking at a T5 system and have found that the ice cap ballast over drive the t5 lights. Thus they brighter but the life span of the bulbs are shorter, than regular HO ballasts.

  9. AO is the main LFS I go to for all my livestock. They have shipments for livestock everyweek either Friday or Saturday. Coral prices are also right on the mark, if compared to online not including shipping. The owner is always helpful and detemined to give you a decent deal. As Troll mentioned, AO has lots of potenital.

  10. Hi all,

Currently, I have one PC 96 watt quad and two PC 65 watt Actinic 03 lights. I am limited by the space underneath the canopy which is 36" X 15.5". If I was going to redo this setup what would you do? I currently have soft corals but I may want to get more growth and keep some SPS or clams.

    Thanks,

    David
