  1. Getting out of the hobby. I have everything you need, although the lights probably need replaced. I have over 150 lbs of live rock and a fish or two. The filter is 30 gal - I can only attach one pic but I can send more. I love my tank - just don't have time for it any longer. Asking $1,000 but will consider other offers.
  2. I am sellling mine if your interested. Its beautiful (oak i think) and i have had it for abt two years. I am going to take a better pic tonight, but let me know if you rinterested. I am moving (it sucks)
  3. Just started UV to get rid of ICH - Heard there are cons. Anyone have any views
  4. not sure i get the can of worms reference. Can you elaborate?
  5. Thanks for all the advice. appreciate it!!! - One other thing - I also just got a UV to try and get rid of a nasty ich strain that wont go away. Will that kill all the natural food (micro organisms) in the water?
  6. I just bought a nice blue squamosa (3 inches) and its doing great in my quarantine. I feed cyclopeeze and the green photoplankton. Is there more i should be feeding. I have heard some people feed them brine directely by seperating them in the tank. Any tips wouls be appreciated.
  7. Ever since i saw that freaking picture of the blue carpet that won this month I have been hunting one. Its beautiful. Anyone have any suggestions. Anyone have any precautions (ie are they dangerous?)
  8. Got the same thing on my end. I am way high on calcium/Alk and I think its the freaking cold weather. I used some aveeno afterwards and it made it better. Now i keep doing that and its working pretty well
  9. I am about 6 months in with my 150 gal. the only advice i can give you is stay away from damsels that you wont want later on. I threw some cheap ones in to see if they would hold up and now i cant catch them anymore.
  10. I have 2 choc chip starfish in may tank and I have heard they can destroy corals. Anyone else ever heard of this?
  11. I missed the first and will do my best to get to this one
  12. Did you by any chance pick up that LR at Marine Scene. I got some there last week, but my sponge is only growing on the bottom out of the lights. I was actually excited about it
  13. not too sure what its exactly made of. Bought it at the fish place in Lancaster PA, Its very porous though. GUess it cant hurt to add more LR
  14. I began my tank with live rock and regular rock (couldnt afford enough live). It has been running for about 3/4 months and is getting healthier but nitrates are high. My question is will the rest of the rock become cured so that evantually my nitrates should start to come down. If not i was considering switching the rock with live rock. any thoughts.
  15. Thanks to you both - My after sponge is always nasty and i clean every few days. I really like the live rock instead bio ball technique - i may try it unfortunatly may be quite a task based on my setup
  16. yep - i think thats what i am going to do. I got some amquel a few days ago and have been using only to top off and water change. I will say that I have seen a marked improvment in overall health. my softies are open for business.
  17. I am actually investing in my first. what do you guys think of this model. Its pretty cheap at 145. a LFS around the corner had a barracuda for 270 which i thought was appauling. http://www.reeftanksupply.com/index.php?cP...8f9be6f1c717272
  18. I have seen various references on this site to Bio Balls in Sumps creating/increasing nitrates. Coudl someone help me out with why this occurs and why they sell sumps this way if they are supposed to clean the water
  19. its pretty cool - idea above - if you could that with a reeftank it would be something tp be hold
  20. I have had fish in the tank for about 2 months and all my readings are good and stable, with the exception of nitrates. I havent read this week, but I have been changing a lot and they are goiing down.
  21. I have 150 gal filled with tap and its been running for three months. Any chance I have already killed it
  22. does anyone think the chlorine in tap water can kill the bacteria on live rock? I use it for water changes and to replace evaporation. Just until i can invest in an RO if someone has one for sale
  23. Thanks - I may take you up on the frags - I am going to heed everyones advice and wait a few months. I agree with you more LR is a definte and Sean has been good to me
  24. dont see any white nudi's salinity is around 1.022. i have been using tap water, which is what i think the issue is. Any suggestions on RO/DI
