Go with the fuge first. And dont bother wasting money on those expensive hang ons. Just get a kitchen sink size tub from walmart, about 5 buks, drill a hol ein it for a bulkhead for water to overflow into tank of sump, and then use a MJ 400 to pump water into it and fill it with southdown, and get some macro when someone is prunning. Canister filters end up being Phosphate and NO3 or 2 I cant remember spnges after a short while. Theyre good for running carbon and making water movement but steer away if your trying to get rid of nuisance algae. Just my .02

Hope Im not to late. I have to refinish my basement, and will be framing it within the next few weeks. Its all concrete now. I was thinking of using several GFCI outlets for tank. Just curious what is meant by multiple circuits? Not sure if what I had planned already covers this, but was going to have electrician wire basement then give me 4 GFCI plugs dedicated to tank area. The house has 6 GFCI plugs, and none have tripped as of 3 months post construction so I dont see a problem with that. Thanks Mike

Just to chime in. If someones looking to make quick money to buy some new bulbs or something, there was a guy who had sold the miss. stuff for $2/lb+ ship and he sold his 100lb lot in maybe 3 days. I myself bought 4lbs and it filled a gallon jug maybe 80% full. Still half half of it 1.5 half later. Whatever is left over throw it on RC, they will eat it up. Also, for your size order, I would bring plenty of dust masks when you start cutting those bags. My tub clouds up just opening the lid. P.S. FWIW its never boiled for me<???> but when i mix it with vinegar in an old coolwhip tub, the tub does feel warm in my hand, but no where near say a standard light bulb. and using the "adding vinegar" method, I have hardly no residue left over. Well I had a 1" drain with 3/4" return and the 9.5 was prolly half closed using a ball valve. So in that case you should be fine with the 9.5, but it will be backed down considerably. unless you can get a larger or another overflow. kabala

I had a 9.5 as a return on my 75 from sump so maybe 4' head as well with just 2 locline round nozzles and the water actually fell out of the nozzles, with a slight capilary action. My pinkey finger is longer than the arch of the water comming out of the nozzles LoL. Impellar was replaced a few times with same results. I did use 3/4" return line with a loc-line "y" and then 2 of the standard 6" locline barbs. If your looking for some serious wave like motion, Id go with the 12 definately. Ok, I see southdown is rare now, even in the Bmore area. I did buy some type of playsand that is in a purple and white bag with a castle on it that HD sells now. This sand is a darker brown than I prefer, and looking to find that nice white Southdown looking sand. If anyone can let me know where there is some, or what is being used these days I would appreciate it. If its in VA, would anyone be willing to bring me some to the meeting? Ill pay all expenses. Just curious if anyone has a used old 175w Mogul bulb. I dont care how old or brand, as long as its at least 6700k. I just need a light for a month or so to test a ballast and I dont have a bulb. OK, I have an 8.5" Emperor angel that was the pride of my SW experience. This fish, tied with a hippotang, is my Favorite fish of all time. I got him For Valentines Day as a gift to myself. Well this morning when checking my tank I found him deceased in the rocks. The other day(Wed) I pruned my refuge and there was a small slug with a half shell, I think they are called Limpets?, in the algae, that I pulled and dropped in the main tank. The Emp swooped out and gobbled it up, And I was expecting him to spit it out, But he didnt. Three days later he died. Just curious if theres a way, if this EVER happens again, to get a fish to throw up i guess, for lackof better terms? So as to not loose another 130 fish That ate outta my hand after having him for 3 days. Thanks as I mope around the house shuffling my feet and kicking an empty can around. Mike

Ok, I was gonna pick up a ballast from Advanced and just read a few post by George on another board saying they wont run 10k AB bulbs anywhere near as good as a Electronic-ballast or PFO style? Just curious if anyone knows about this or what i can do to make sure the ballast works for a 175w 10k ab bulb with the cheapest ballast. Im trying to get an IC ballast but seems on RC everyone wants $10 less than new since Champion is having a sale for 109 right now. Also, Do the Core/coil ballast HAVE to go into a box? I got mine form Chideloh, His is out in the open, As mine is underneath the stand all by its lonesome(acrylic tank with builtin wetdry sys) But not sure how important having the ballast in an enclosure is. John, I had emeralds and they seem to eat everything BUT bubble algae. Im just chimming in to let you know i have gotten 4 cucs from Dr MAC and they eat everything. Mine come out during the day as well which supposedly is rare. If you can wait until Summer meeting have him bring you some. I have 2 in a 75g and they do fine as far as not starving. But i think he is the cheapest. Only like 8buks or something. As far as kind. Only kind you want arethe dull looking ones, and I think Dr mac carries Tiger Tails which are better than Atlantics. Well, So the saying on RC. But they really clean my bed, and I dont think they can eat enough since its never really spotless. just hoped that helped. Dr mac did tell me that you really need to acclimate these guys as they are super sensitive to ph changes. But i can say, Once in they never seem to be effected by anything drastically changed. Mike

Was at EA today and they have a large stack of used 40g breeders, that the gentlemen told me he would sell for $30 each. He wasnt sure how many he had, towards 30-40 it looked to me, but did say if anyone wanted one please call first as hes going to use some for a plant set up so not sure how many he has. I dont work for them or get discounts just figured id pass a message on. They are all drilled in the top right rear corner with a 1" hole. The hole is 1" not the bulkhead. Mike

Ok I have a 30gal or so tank that id like to polish the front a little bit before filling it, i tried to do the polish thing on a piece of acyrlic sheet. Came out clean and nice, but the edges where I stopped the strokes was completely hazed. Just curious if anyone interested in polishing this tank for me in their spare time. Im willing to pay just let me know what it will cost, or if it would be cheaper to just buy another glass tank. The tank is not rectangular but the front has 2 almost 45degree angles going out to the sidewalls. Or if someone can give me some good tips on doing this task ill try it myself just for *@s and grins. Let me know Mike
