  1. If the mag 24 doesnt work, not sure if they are out yet or where to find them but might want a mag36 to see if its any better. Do a search Im sure you can find them. At least you can stick with an internal pump and utilize the excess heat, which like you, i would try to use if possible. Then you can throw the 24 on the skimmer with dual becketts. Might be overkill but thats what ball valves are for. Just checked out place where ive bought my pumps from http://www.aquatictech.com/pumps.html. Great place Although they screwed up some shipping over christmas. but they have the mag36 for $141 if you find yourself needing something bigger than the 24. I have found this place to be the cheapest, but you can always have your preferred vendor price match. Mike
  2. Are you going to be adding another tank in the future. if so what size, hope its big to need a 575g sump. Unless it was free, just curious whats the thinking behind having a 575g sump connected to a 75g tank, assuming you arent getting a new tank? Thanks, Mike
  3. Alberto: heres a link to marine depot of a pic http://www.marinedepotlive.com/1123494.html Scott, I had planned on keeping it in its own tank with some host clowns. I actually prefer their look over roses but wanted to make sure nothing was hidden in knowledge with them. Are roses more docile than carpets? As I might add SOMETHING later down the line to a 30g but mainly a soft coral or tube anenome. nothing that the carpet could catch as it swam by. Mike
  4. SEE!!! even more reason for his friend to move here. better weather and Sniper Free! :D
  5. I second that snapper!!! Now im not against anyone making $ off of their profession, But Ive always been glad that Dr. Macs "driving force" as he states is faaaaaar from making money. Seems the "marine professional retailer" we know as roozens is concearned about nothing BUT green!!! Well Doc, Im glad to hear that the ball is rolling and I hope everything goes smooth for you. Are you actually PURCHASING the building or going to lease it? And just tell your friend its warmer (maybe 10degress in winter) and less snow here in MD and maybe that will persuade him. OH and we rarely ever get the wind!! Well Ill have to leave the wife at home if you have rare reptiles as she wants me to set up a "colorful frog tank" which I have no clue about, and I know if she sees them in your store it will be nothing but disaster for me GOOD LUCK!!! Mike
  6. George that huge one you have a rose? Or did you get one recently?? Also, I was debating on either a blue carpet or a rose and curious if anyone has preference over one or the other, OTHER than looks? Im just starting to do some indepth reading on them to make sure Im up to par on housing an anemone but was curious if its just preference that people pick the blue carpet over the rose, and vice versa, when buying the high priced anemones. Or maybe there was an underlying situation I should be aware of. Any and all info would be appreciated Thanks again, Mike
  7. Just curious if theres any forward motions on the idea of you opening a retail store? Its been awhile since that post but was wondering if the fires burning or it has smoothered out? Keep Us updated if anything comes about. Big Mike
  8. MAN!!! you and I once again fighting over the same thing hahahaha. I have been gearing my tank and getting ready for over a year now for an emperor. I had one Loooong time ago, back before the war hehe, and sold him off when I broke down the tank. Everytime I am at exotics with fat pockets they have NOTHING but $70 frags of hammers and GSP. And when I just stop in to pick up a $5 part they have tons of fish and 3 or 4 Emperors priced just right and the PERFECT size. Maybe I can sweet talk the Blessed Be that works the counter to see if she can swindle a sale? Hey Ive been following along with your posts, And even though you have 300+g you might want to slow down on the fish purchases. They are so pretty in the store and cry for you when you put your fingertip in the top, but always safe to add as few at a time as possible. Just my thoughts. its definately better for the fish and might ease your stress youve had the past few months. Mike
  9. Maybe theyll have a "moving sale" :D As I talked to the lady that works the counter. Shes really nice and I think she might put a spell on me if I ever %$#* her off anyway!!! But she said they are NOT looking forward to the move at all. I had mentioned maybe should have a moving sale as to minimize loss and space and she said shed talk to the "boss" and see what he thinks. Maybe we could set up a get together there in march and see if theyd be willing to help us out. Mike
  10. I have actually used both aquarium use and GE silicone to attach baffles. I have yet to see any ill effects other than the retched smell for a day or two. But were talking maybe a $8 difference over all-glass sealant, and thats at Aquarium ctr. After spending hundreds up to thousands on equipment and lights, multiple hundreds on live rock and sand. Fish are normally starting at $20-25 a pop. coral frags and colonies anywhere from $10, up to $75 for Dr mac stuff. Even homebrew food is just shy of $50 buying all the fresh seafood. Why worry about ashtray change and worry if it might leach some toxic chemical into your system? if indeed that is the main selling point. Sorry to sound so negative but seems that if worried to begin with you should stick with what you know for sure is safe than being stuck between a $3 tube and $15
  11. Hope you do excellent, I think you should do great with the rotifers on as far as food. Hopefully when mature you might spare 1 or 2 to a fellow member :D Mike
