  1. I wrote him and he told me it was spoken for,, Where you the buyer? He was suppose to let me know if the deal fell through. Ill see if he still has it. Mike
  2. Scott, that was my assumption, thats as long as the water didnt get behind the silicone I hope Im fine. But im resealing anyway. Michael, Let me know when your ready with that rock. Im ordering Dr macs 88lb box and would still like to get about 60lbs more so everything will help. Also letme know what youd like for it. Dont worry about the aptasia, I got plenty of needles and hot water!!! Mike
  3. lol. I know about the expanding and the cold glass hot water. ive had many of waitresses at my last job rinse a fresh brewed pot of coffee out under ice cold water. BURST! I guess i should fill it up outside to see if it leaks at all first instead of testing it inside. Thanks guys, Mike
  4. Ok I got the 150 from Scott and I took it out this past weekend to clean it out and prepare to reseal it. I havent taking the caulk off of it yet. Now since i was about a 1/3 full of water to help clean it I didnt get a chance to empty it and bring it back in. now from the weather the water has a 2" sheet of ice and water underneath. Is this going to affect the tank any. I figured I was gonna reseal it anyway so if it lifted the caulk off the tank then theres no problem. Just checking to see if anyone has accidentally left there tanks outside and had any ill effects? Also, Just curious if anyone has an Extra LR they are looking to get rid of before I drop 4 bills on Dr mac. If so let me know what you have and price. Thanks again Mike
  5. Just to add a quick note. I have looked for this stuff all over the bmore area and came up empty handed. After i moved to Mt Airy I was browsing in Safeway and came across a case of it on the shelf. Quazi if you can make it with what you have until the next meeting, i can buy out what they have and bring it to you? Just let me know and ill make sure they still have it. I have 4 cans myself sitting here, plus a 3lb tub I got from Mississippi lime. Thanks, Mike
  6. MIchael, Well then do you want more than half a block if your gonna add it to your home brew?
  7. Well I havent called them to see what the deal was with small packages really wasnt interested since im sure they are going to add on for dry ice and insulated box. I can order one extra and let you, Michael and Reefmon split one if that satisfy you guys. Aquariareview, do you get them at a local place or mail order as well. I was interested as I just read an article in Feb FAMA mag and was interested. But ill let you know when the order date, Probably make it close to the meeting so as to not travel so far for a pack of food!! Mike
  8. Getting ready to order a few packs of this stuff to try it out and just checking to see if anyone else wants to jump on to save on shipping and get cheaper bulk price? Let me know Ill be ordering the frozen http://www.jehmco.com/PRODUCT....ze.html Thanks Mike
  9. Alberto, hey after doing that twice, I found AC was good for something!!!LoL Dave and Alberto, there website is www.dannermfg.com and if I remember correctly you have to email them the problem first and they will send you a repair order you ship along with the pump. That might have changed since I last dealt with them. As for age, Mine was just about 13 months and they didnt hesitate to satisfy me, Hence I bought two 9.5s right after that. Really great service and fast as well. They really cant argue that your LFS didnt have the pump sitting on the shelf for awhile :p right?? David, also do you still have any of that LR you had excess or finally get rid of it? Mike
  10. Alberto. You can send that Mag18 to Dannermfg in NY and they will replace it. I Just sent a mag12 Back around Oct for repair. It had stopped working and I sent it in since the screw broke off in the cover when trying to take it apart to make sure the shaft wasnt broken. They sent me a whole new one no questions asked. Very easy to deal with. In the meantime I just went to AC bought a new one to use for the time being and when they sent it to me I returned it for a refund!!! Mike
  11. Looking to recaulk a tank I have laying around and just curious if this is all I need to do. I was going to scrap out old silicone, clean as best as possible, and reapply new caulk. Wasnt sure if there were any tricks of the trades or something that MUST be done I didnt know about. Thanks for your help in advance. Mike
  12. Prev is the shiznit!! He is right, when water evaporates the vapor is only H2O and the salt is left in the tank. So really only thing that would cross the fan is water vapor and no salt to destroy the fan. I have sscoured the web for different fans and curious if theres any cheap alternative to the icecap. Remind you that staying at least the same if not less db levels as the icecap. I probably should just break down and get them but after searching for weeks back around thanksgiving, im on a quest to find SOMETHING. Mike
  13. Just curious where you are located. And is there a possibility you could join this club? Would you want the money upfront or when the items were picked up. If up front, then as your not a member and only 1 post I would rather not. But let me know. Mike
  14. Will to chime in. I agree with Prev on the DSB swap. I also have a 75 gallon and started out with CC and after only 3 months swapped out to southdown and would never look back. It only took a large sized trash can to do everything. I took all the rock and placed it in can with about 1/4 full of water. All rock Hairalgae covered I put in a 5 g bucket headed for the washtub. then I put all corals and anything attached to rock on the top of the trash can. Captured fish last and put them in as well. They will fend for themselves when removing rock from can so no need to worry. I put in a small powerhead with the airhose attachment and a heater. I actually took out ALL the cc as I didn't want any of it to work its way to the surface over time. Replaced with sand and put everything back in. Everything os out of the tank maybe hour and a half depending on how fast you scoop the CC out. Along with Prev, it would be nice to know you PO4 level as well. If you only doing water changes and not actually jamming the Python into the CC to suck out all the crap then its gotta be high. Which those nuisance algae's reeeeeally love. I remember siphoning the bottom and the whole water column of the python turning black. And that was only after 3 weeks. But Good luck Mike
  15. I just got a coupon in the mail for this place for 20% off any fish or live coral. Have any of you Frederick boys been by this shop? If so whats your thoughts? Thanks, Mike
  16. Anyone have an idea on how to get these $%*!ing maxi jet cups to stay on the glass. I took them off when I changed the tank out and now cannot get 2 of the three suc cups on both my PHs to stick to the glass. Ive cleaned the H-E-double hockey sticks out of everything and tried everything short of using dishsoap to hold em on but they just wont stick. Still very pliable so im assuming they can but maybe ill have to get some more? Anyone know where I can get new ones. Maybe Ill just get that return from TRT and throw em out!!! Thanks for your help Mike
  17. As well as Prev, I also have a TEE at the back side of my tank for the air. Same principal they use in home plumbing. Although I found after I cut the ribs from the screen, I didnt need the hole as it whistled and I cloged it with an ear plug!! Only thing I could squeeze in it and it expanded to seal it shut. My return I use a 45 ebnd screwed into front of mag 9.5 to get lower into the sump and then a 1" gate valve screwed into outlet of mag. Stick with the gate as a ball valve will have you cussing when trying to get the water levels constant, as most of them dont turn smoothly. Then I use flexible tubing to back of take leading to a locline Y with 2 extensions. The loclines are actually bending over the edge and sitting on the water surface. This stops it from falling of back of tank So I dont 1) have to drill a hole into return for siphoning. 2) need to drop the return into the tank so I have something to Drill a hole into, as your not suppose to drill the locline. It helps with surface agitation as well, and at about 6ft of head and the mag mayb 60% open its a gently flow out of the returns. I hope to have pics of my tank up soon as I my dig camera died last summer and Im waiting on Walmart to return my pics! Although fishless as of now still looks better than when my power went out!!! Big MIke
  18. I have a single 1" bulkhead as well with a 90 elbow, One thing that I noticed on my tank, not sure if Marty ran into the same thing, but I used the cone strainer that came with the bulkhead and just sat it in the elbow. I noticed oil slicks a lot from surface build up. So, I cut out maybe three rows of the circular ribs on the strainer and now I have great surface motion and it acts as a skimmer of sorts. Also, I put the outlet end half way in and out of the sump level and I actually have almost zero sound. If you turn the skimmer off all I hear is the return pump humming. Mike
  19. Well The PFO is good as you dont loose to much intensity within the space between bulbs. As I know I Have in the past tried to position bulbs so that the triangle shaped lighting pattern ,when viewing front of tank, somewhat covers the darkened gap left in the top center of tank. Mainly under the brace. Although the spider light gave a football shape you still have a lot of empty space that doesnt get as much light as you would with the parallel PFO. As it was almost rectangular shaped following length of tank. The Diamond reflector was the best, and it had the highest intensity at the farther points even though other reflectors matched its pattern. But, unless everyone goes without a canopy it would be a very tight fit. For those with hanging pendents then you have no problem. This can also be helped, hopefully, by the smaller diamond lumenarc. I was trying to remember the combo he had that was in the 5900 par range at the one point? Mike

    Canopies

*@!! to bad I missed this before the meeting. Is the 48" still avail? And how much you looking to get for it. I have a canopy but I made it 13" tall and ended up stuffing vhos in it. The bulbs are 10" from waterlevel to bottom of bulb!!! Looking to correct that soon. But let me know, also where are you located. Mike
  21. Well I dont know about Alberto, But for the Money. I think Ima go with PFO parallel reflectors, I have had them on order before but ended up not needing reflectors. Alberto you might agree, as I cant recall the exact numbers, But I think the spiderlight was on the low end of the scale. Which is the highly prized and praised reflector. Make any corrections needed, Mike
  22. heres tense. Pt last week was having 15second sinus pauses!! Talk about speed dialin the Med directors. w/ ambul bag in hand
  23. Hey at least the girls keep me warm at night!!! And who doesnt love their outfits, YEA!!!! No I work with sleep disorders. you know the ones you put under and have to use CPAP masks on. Well im the PSG guy that stop em from breathing pauses. Im sure youve meet a few where YOU found they had sleep apnea, and get a lil tense when they have an Apnaic or Hypopnic event for 25+ seconds. I can see you now. "come on breath man breath I gotta pay for that emperor at Exotics" haha
  24. Well, not sure if this helps, but a guy who once owned the fish shop on rt 1 in college park told me most fish tend to get their streamers with age and not size. Although he is almost 6", I remember asking him about a Maculosis that was 10.5" I had, and he said streamers are usually found with fish that are at least 4-5 years of age. Tangs do grow them faster than angels and triggers(the two main fish I inquired about) but they become really lengthened in the 6+ years of age. This of course was all corresponded to me and not sure exactly how truthful it was. He was a wholesale importer as well as a Diver in Fiji back in his younger years. Mike
