  1. I'm hoping that this is my only loss while we're gone. We have a paid sitter for the dogs, cats and parrots. She's afraid to touch the tank despite the checklists and all the stuff I left out for her. Oh well.
  2. How strange. It looks like Level3 has a gateway for abovenet that goes out to Houston then Dallas, then back again. My servers are off of abovenet and they do pretty well. Course I tried to traceroute from out here in Bonaire, and it wouldn't even get to the first hop. I think I'm in the land of wet string Internet with "wireless access" available only in the lobby or the pool. I don't feel so great taking a laptop near the pool, bur there you go.
  3. Can I borrow them next time we have to go out of town please? *ARGH*
  4. Those are utterly gorgeous. Well done on the pictures.
  5. The person who was supposed to watch my tanks left it to my 15 year old daughter who didn't bother to feed the lobster like I showed her. So much for leaving detailed instructions and checklists. *sigh*
  6. Ah. Thanks for clearing that up. I wuv my itsy bitsy little pod, but don't need the ones in the bottle. I do, however, have these magic beans I'll trade for a queen angel :-).
  7. I'm amazed at how big the critters are growing, and how quickly they're molting. I had no idea that arrow crabs molted that way too. He's basically doubled in size since I got him about a month ago. I hope when we come back from vacation in 2 weeks that I don't have a foot tall arrow crab menacing the tank.
  8. Mine did the same thing.... "you'd better test the water again, you lost a shrimp." I believed him, not having seen the skeleton. But then I saw both of them sitting on the rock and assumed it must have resurrected. Always something to learn :-)
  9. What wrong with aquapods? I really like mine. Am I missing something important?
  10. "Look honey, I thought we only had ONE Arrow Crab," I exclaimed before finding that the "second" Arrow Crab was indeed its molted skeleton. D'oh.
  11. I wonder.... can poison ivy, or the steroids to treat it, cure ich? :-). Ready to do some experiments, Sean? Thank goodness I'll be out of town soon so you can't experiment on MY tanks :-).
  12. Hey, I felt the dripping socks on my feet... does that count? :-).
  13. Husband said something like "well, why did you bother those people with little things like this? I had everything under control and knew just what to do." If that were so, would I have been sopping up the floor AGAIN? :-) I panicked and posted before I knew what was up. here's the fix. He says he's going to put a T back in later so that we can run the refugium, which will go to the right of the protein skimmer, now fixed. *phew*

  15. Really nice photos and great looking tank and stand. Thanks for sharing it. Utterly gorgeous zoos.
  16. Thanks guys. The husband has rushed off to the Temple of the Home Despot to procure who the heck knows what, and by his grumbling on the way, seems to have some type of plan, leaving me with the acrylic cleaner, the dripping towels, and the now working better ASM-G1. Luckily "Better off Dead" is on TV where the mother gives everyone TV dinners, and her husband an Aardvark coat for Xmas.
  17. Awww, that's sweet. I haven't been called young in.... well, in awhile :-). In training? Yeah, especially in this field. Always so much to learn, and so much to mop up. We're lucky to have so many nice people in the club who take the time to help when we're panicked and running in circles and worried for the lives of our critters.
  18. It is much appreciated. You aren't allowed to be a burden. That's my job :-)
  19. Thanks again for your message, Jason. Already did that. I couldn't take another picture before he took it all apart in dusgust. The tank, not the sump overflowed. Take a closer look at the filter part (white cylinder). There are two pipes coming off of that, one that goes behind the main overflow that was plummed to the UV, and the other one coming out that was put on a valve that was closed. However, on the test run, before the bulb was put into the sterilizer, the water somehow overflowed the tank at Squiddly's great disgust and running for towels. I'm getting used to running for towels. Perhaps I will lose a lot of weight this way.
  20. Thanks, Jason. Unfortunately, there is no air flow control, and the water output and the entire machine was cleaned out completely. Duh, yes it does. That's what we get for not getting a manual with the darn thing. Found. Adjusted. Happy. Thanks! Stand down red alert.
  21. Ok... we really need some help here. Husband tried to install a new section of plumbing into the system so that he could branch off of it to send water to a refugium (not yet built) and into a new UV sterilizer. He set things up this way: When it was first fired up (after all of the open fittings were plumbed in) the tank overflowed. Also, the protein skimmer began filling with water and expelling foam out of its top. All help very appreciated.

    A failed new plumbing attempt
  23. All of a sudden, my ASM G1 has started acting strangely, with the collection cup filling with water and foam being pushed out the collection cup's top. It's an in sump skimmer. Please help, as we are going nuts with it.
  24. Take a look at the upper right and upper left hand corners of the tank.

120 as of 9/4. Hopefully you can see the overflows here
