airedwin January 17, 2022 January 17, 2022 does anyone know what the composition of tap water in the gaithersburg area is? i'm thinking about getting an ro/di system and was wondering if i need the six stage
WheresTheReef January 17, 2022 January 17, 2022 If you’re asking if they use chloramine, it isn’t listed in their filtration process or Water Quality Report (see below). I only use a 5 stage (sediment, 2x carbon, RO membrane and DI) with no issues. https://www.wsscwater.com/waterquality https://www.wsscwater.com/media/8927/download
DaJMasta January 17, 2022 January 17, 2022 If you're on WSSC, I did think they used chloramines (and switched over a decade or so ago?), and while you've got more pipes on the way, my incoming TDS a ways south is only about 180ppm. My configuration is basically the same, technically 6 stages because my DI resin stages are tiny, but I do use a chloramine block as one of the carbon blocks to be sure.
airedwin January 17, 2022 Author January 17, 2022 Thanks all. I use tap water for my freshwater fish with Prime with no issues. So I think it should be good then for ro/di, thanks!
