Guest alex wlazlak September 5, 2006 September 5, 2006 i just got home 10 minutes ago and went to feed the fish and noticed this thing. its white, with an offwhite foot, and is stuck to the glass of my tank. the pictures i got were of the top of it, which is white and goes into a cone shape. what the heck is this thang? it didnt really look like it was a sanil cause it didnt have eyes (that i could see) or a mouth like snails do.
ReeferMan September 5, 2006 September 5, 2006 it some sort of snail. I had them all over my tank when i got this live rock from this guy. They dont do much froom what i have seen. i would say they are reef safe but not 100% sure
dbartco September 5, 2006 September 5, 2006 Could be a calcerous depositing tubeworm. Is it stationary and have a hole in the top? I have them all over the place. Not bad.
Guest alex wlazlak September 5, 2006 September 5, 2006 yeah i think it is a snail...i took it out and put it in my little mixing tank and saw its foot try to grab and stuff. i put it back in my tank and then noticed an even larger one. i was just afraid that it could be a parasite or some crazy thing that will mess crap up.. thanks.
mutley29 September 5, 2006 September 5, 2006 Looks like a very small limpet to me I have hundreds in my sump
dhoch September 5, 2006 September 5, 2006 It's actually not a snail but a chiton (no shell is like a covering rather than wrapping), but regardless a reef safe alage eater. Dave
Guest alex wlazlak September 6, 2006 September 6, 2006 what do the limpets do? i saw the bigger one today along with a starfish. it had one big leg, like 2 normal legs, and 3 small legs. i saw one before i moved my tank over and it had all symetrical legs and then i noticed this one a little while back and its legs were all different sizes...
