maevepotter February 4, 2020 Share February 4, 2020 I finally caved and bought the $1 a gallon (actually $99 dollar) 75g at Petco. Now I need to make the stand. We've gotten the 2x4s and plan on following the popular plan. Just wanted to check if others had suggestions or lessons learned that we should watch out for. treesprite February 4, 2020 Share February 4, 2020 (edited) If you are planning to drill the tank, you need to make sure it isn't tempered. The last 75 I bought from Petco was tempered so I ended up giving it away. Make sure the surface you are working on is flat and not bumpy. Being unlevel at a consistent angle can be accounted for, but bumpiness can't. I built a second top frame for my last stand because I thought something was wrong with the first one when there wasn't; turned out the floor surface wasn't flat and I had to finish the stand out on the cement patio.
