Origami September 1, 2019 Share September 1, 2019 Even though the effects of Hurricane Dorian are delayed and expected to be far less than they could have been, it's impact was still felt at MACNA this year. Effects include # Passholders canceling their trip for fear of getting stuck.# Attendees rebooking flights to leave early when the Orlando Airport announced (on Friday) that they were ceasing operations at 2AM Monday, but then delaying the announcement reversing that decision until very late Saturday night.# Some exhibitors having to bail before the conference started so the could return to and secure their homes and businesses.# Some exhibitors leaving early to avoid problems created in the regional transportation systems.# Losing a couple of speakers who couldn't make it.# Availability of last minute passes to the otherwise sold out banquet.# Vastly improved odds at the final raffle because of early departures.# Better deals at the frag sellers' booths. All in all, though, despite the disruption that Hurricane Dorian gave us, it was an enjoyable (and memorable) conference. As the title suggests, I found it particularly ironic that this year's MACNA conference at Disney was threatened by a Hurricane that could be affectionately called, "Dory." Adding to this is a radar image that headlined at NBC News just yesterday. See if you can "Find Nemo." Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
