EricBrian July 19, 2006 Share July 19, 2006 As some of you may know, I got a 75 gallon tank and am now collecting the hardware for it. I am now working on the lights for mostly SPS and Zoas. And, some clams. Would you buy this setup? 48" Aqua Medic Oean Light Combo 2x250W plus 2x54W T5 http://bluezooaquatics.com/livestock/produ...nfo.php?id=1954 Or, if you have another suggestion, can you send a link? Thanks for any and all input. Eric
emissary July 19, 2006 Share July 19, 2006 Seems like you could probably do *just fine* with 2x175W. From there it's up to you to either get something that's already put together for you, or put it together yourself.
JMsAquarium July 20, 2006 Share July 20, 2006 Hi Eric, Unless you are sold on the MH, you should also consider an all T5, retrofit with IceCap ballasts.
davjbeas July 20, 2006 Share July 20, 2006 I have the same light you are thinking of. The aquamedic brand. I have mine suspended from the cieling. It generates a lot of heat. My temperatures got as high as 86 degrees. I had to add a chiller to the setup. I am happy with mine. You could go with dual 175 watt metal haide unit. Mine is a 2x250 watt unit with T5 actinics and it is hard to keep zoos. there is too much light in my opinion I am keeping a small frag of zoos in the shade under a hammer coral. However the light is great for SPS corals. Here is a thread where you can see my tank. http://www.wamas.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=8360 David B.
