Did Salifert change their ALK test?

I have 2 Salifert ALK tests exp 9-22 and other is 11-22  The directions are different.

 

Step 1 on both tests is  4 ml and 2 ml for low resolution.

Step 2 on black and white directions 2 drops and 1 drop for low res. Step 2 on color directions is 4 drops and 2 drops for low res

 

? there is no difference in the drop solution bottles that I can tell. Of course I combined the packages becasue I bought them both at the same time...  grrrr

 

The ALK charts are the same as well...

Yea I was stumped by that as well, my new one says 2 drops. Old ones 4.

There are a couple of threads in Randy Holmes-Farley’s reef chemistry forum on R2R asking about this. Randy says it doesn’t matter and that the bottle in question is just a dye. Others said they got different results depending on whether they used 2 or 4 drops. I would try each kit based on the instructions included with each specific kit and see if the results are the same or different.

no difference, maybe they changed to 4 drops to see the color change better... just ran 4 tests all of them were 8.4... Both packages claim 100-200 tests not sure how that is possible since everything is the same size....
