Tap water quality issue

The tap water at our house has been coming out brown for the past three days or so.  I assume it is caused by all the rain washing a ton of vegetation into the Potomac filtration plant.  A fresh pre-filter on my RO/DI turned dark orange after making 40g of water before I noticed.  WSSC is going to send out a crew to open up a fire hydrant to "flush our neighborhood" which seems like a crazy thing, but that's what they want to do about it.  

 

Point of the story is, don't use tap water to mix up salt (probably almost no one does) or for topoff.  And if you have a white bucket run some water into it to check out the color.
