steveoutlaw June 28, 2006 June 28, 2006 Does anybody keep live brine in their refugium? I'd like to have them alive and ready to feed to my livestock when needed.
rocko918 June 28, 2006 June 28, 2006 when i was hatching brine for the baby horses i would squit some in the main tank as well. Everyone went nuts when i did that. Well some made it to the fuges and the sump, now i have brine living in there for over 5 months. I was thinking about hatching some more soon just to add to the tank. Just been to lazy to set it up.
Caribbean Jake June 28, 2006 June 28, 2006 I do. I try to keep a small batch in my sump and refugium. They end up in the main tank so I need to replenish once in a while,, like now.
jamesbuf June 29, 2006 June 29, 2006 Jake, Do they just stay in your refugium and get sucked up when they make it to the pump??? Can you just add eggs into the fuge and have them hatch???
rocko918 June 29, 2006 June 29, 2006 adding eggs will not work. You need to hatch them first. Then add the newly hatched bbs to the fuge
Caribbean Jake June 29, 2006 June 29, 2006 James do not add eggs. Once they hatch I put them in the refugium, some are able to cross the baffles and then get suck up by the pump and therefore end up in the main tank. The ones in the refugium stay there for at least 3 month, and then I think, die. Why die? cause I don't have the food necessary to hatch them and grow them.
steveoutlaw June 29, 2006 Author June 29, 2006 Ok, I added a bunch to my refugium but now I think I'm going to have to put a screen over my strainer.......they keep making their way into the main tank! My fish are going to get FAT!!
