FirstContact May 31, 2017 Share May 31, 2017 I am considering getting a nitrate reactor and was looking at Deltec's vodka reactor NFP 616. Any reason I should go with a traditional sulphur nitrate reactor instead?
pizzaguy June 1, 2017 Share June 1, 2017 I use an old calcium reactor for mine. Doesnt need to be anything fancy just recirculating.
FirstContact June 1, 2017 Author Share June 1, 2017 Good point, but I don't own a calcium reactor. Now I'm thinking the Deltec vodka reactor or a biopellet reactor?

dpassar12 June 5, 2017 Share June 5, 2017 Why not just dose vodka? I use a BRS dosing pump and a bottle of cheap plain vodka. Not sure why you need a reactor to inject vodka into your tank. There are charts online to tell you how many ml of vodka to dose and a schedule.. You need to test regularly so you know when to decrease the dose. IF you get algae back you can increase the dose etc etc. I have been dosing for years without any problems.
FirstContact June 6, 2017 Author Share June 6, 2017 Yep! Just got a doser for Christmas, so I'll probably try dosing Vodka again straight into the sump before the skimmer. Last time I dosed manually, I got globs of bacteria in the sump and inside my skimmer. Just thought a reactor might contain some of that.
