treesprite December 31, 2016 Share December 31, 2016 Do vibrations from large pumps/powerheads cause distress to livestock? What about vibrations from things like playing music so loud that your neighbor's walls vibrate? Does flow in the tank generally mitigate any vibrations? GOSKN5 December 31, 2016 Share December 31, 2016 I can say the fish feel vibrations.. but seem to get used to it very quickly... I have an 8 yo and a 4 yo and they are constantly jumping up and a down and wrestling etc near the tank... it vibrates quite a bit... my fish seem to have gotten used to it... I am not sure if sound wave vibrations would be different tho Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
treesprite December 31, 2016 Author Share December 31, 2016 (edited) The apartment before my last one, was like a boom car inside, with all the walls, ceiling, and floors vibrating from early morning to late night. The effect of that type of sound on humans can be highly negative physically and mentally, but there is nothing around us that would have the buffering effect that I assume water has on sound. Still, I think in a tank with low or no flow, that vibration would be felt by animals in the tank if the tank was in contact with a vibrating surface (my tank was about 8" from the wall, fortunately for the inhabitants of it).
