Tang-away May 6, 2004 Share May 6, 2004 What is the ph of the effluent out of a Kalk reactor (neilson) supposed to be? Mine is reading around 10.80 ph. Sph2sail May 6, 2004 Share May 6, 2004 pH should be about 12. Your test kit may or may not reach that range. I find mine goes through about 1 cup Kalk powder per 3-4 weeks. I flow about 1-2G/day of RODI through it for evap makup. hth s Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest andrejka May 7, 2004 Share May 7, 2004 Theoretically, pH of saturated limewater should be 12.4. But mine never gets above 11 or so. Might have something to do with cheapo pH meters we are using in the hobby. You can check pH of freshly prepared kalk (stirr half a teaspoon in a glass of water, which would certainly give you a saturated solution) and see if your pH meter shows target 12.4.
