Transferring to new tank

So I'm planning on getting a new tank.

 

Can i use the same sand I have now?

You should be ok using the same sand just give it a quick rinse in old tank water and transfer it, that's what I did when I upgraded from a 60 to a 120. I didn't have any problems.

Some people recommend replacing sand because it tends to acquire a lot of detritus over time and stirring it up and then putting it in a new tank can cause problems. I would recommend rinsing the sand very well.
