dgasmd October 22, 2002 October 22, 2002 I just got done with the first bottle. Can't say I see any noticeable difference except that since my sand bed is virgin I see more pods and little critters than expected. Most smaller sponges seemed to plump up, but I don't know if it was the rotipods or the excess nutrients in the tank secondary to the death os some fish in the rock work. It is cheapper than buying DT, so I may give it a try again for3 months and see.
Larry Grenier October 23, 2002 Author October 23, 2002 Sounds like a good practice would be to topoff the bottle with clean salt-water and some DTs to keep the fauna alive.
michaelg October 23, 2002 October 23, 2002 Yeah- I would imagine if you keep a bottle of green water going you could have it indefinately. Similar to a rotifer culture, but I imagine the copepods are a little larger in size. Michael
geofloors October 25, 2002 October 25, 2002 I use this product and as I use up the bottle I replace the water with frest salt water and add a small scoop of spray dried phytoplankton. I sit it ontop of my seaswirl near my lights on the 120g. Every 3 days I can see the pods or rotifers crawling on the sides of the bottle, that's when I feed 3/4 of it to my refugiums and start over. Larry Grenier October 25, 2002 Author October 25, 2002 That's what I wanted to hear George! What brand & where do you get the plankton?
geofloors October 26, 2002 October 26, 2002 The brand is ESV and it's spray dried marine phytoplankton. I bought this at Exotic Aquatics in Baltimore George
dgasmd October 26, 2002 October 26, 2002 I am going to give this one more try and see what happens. I'll use George's method since I ahve some of that same phytoplankton sitting here and have not been using it.
