Are you sure it is not an amphipod? That is my best guess

It's hard to see, but it looked like it was coming/reaching out of a hole with part of it's body still back in the sand. That made it look more like a worm to me. However, on first glance, I, too, thought that maybe I was looking at an amphipod.

It has antennas and lots of legs. The body is somewhat clear but a broad one stripe in the middle of the body. Lots of them on sand and rock. I'll try to capture a better picture later. Thanks guys

It really sounds like you're describing an amphipod - a small crustacean. They tend to come out of hiding at night to scavenge for food. I'll often see them on rocks and stuff. Is it relatively compact, with a slight curve in its body? Try googling on amphipods and looking at the images.
