I found an Aquapod 12 for $20 in a thrift store. It looked to be in good condition and the lights worked, so I brought it home. My question is, what can I do with the compartments besides putting standard filter media in them?

What kind of options are you considering? I typically don't run anything in the chambers of my AIO's except throwing in some filter floss. Maybe start with nothing in there and add as necessary.

Some have done fuges, some only do floss.  nano-reef dot com will have good info.  Check the numbers on the tank against the 2006 recall.

Good find. I only ever find stinky clothes and stained books.
