mutley29 March 17, 2006 March 17, 2006 Not sure about the ASM's but my Euroreef broke in in under 24 hours, i know that doesn't really answer your question. I gave it a good clean with RO/DI first then some old tank water i had, not sure if that made any difference but what the hey No it's pulling tons of nasty stuff out of the water, best skimmer i've ever had. mosheikh March 17, 2006 March 17, 2006 I received my ASM G3 Skimmer about a week ago, and it took about 2 days to fully break in. Once I had recieved it, I ran the skimmer in a tub with vinegar for 5 hours. After that I rinsed it with water and put it in my sump. You also have to adjust the riser tube so that the water level of the skimmer can go higher. People recommend to raise the tube until the water level reaches half way up the collection cup. Mohsin.
ErikS March 17, 2006 March 17, 2006 Un-rinsed prior to use - maybe 3 - 5 days. Rinsed should be less but it seems that the extruded PVC construction takes a bit longer than average to fully break in.
steveoutlaw March 17, 2006 Author March 17, 2006 Ok. I've had mine running for a week now and have the bubbles coming up the neck 3/4 of the way. I'm not getting much gunk in the cup at all. Maybe my fuge is working too well!
mosheikh March 19, 2006 March 19, 2006 Samething happened to me when I first hooked up the skimmer. You have to raise the riser tube higher until it reaches half way up the collection cup.
steveoutlaw March 19, 2006 Author March 19, 2006 Mine has finally broken in. It took 5 days but it's working like a champ now. Thanks everyone.
flowerseller March 19, 2006 March 19, 2006 See.......... Prayers do work, don't they! Can't tell me you never muttered: "God I wish this thing would start working"
