Newfishgirl January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 I have 3 nano tanks set up. Not cool ones like a JBJ but just regular ones bought from Petco. Each one has submersible filters with a flow bar, but the surface has a film on top from particles not being skimmed. Any suggestions what I can add to get this removed? I use to just put a regular fresh water HOB filter and never had this issue. Thanks Denise Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
zygote2k January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 turn off pumps. place paper towel on surface of water to soak up oil. stop feeding oily foods- rods, jans, PE Mysis, etc.
Rob A January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 I think you'll have to rig up an overflow box in a corner or on a back wall, and plumb it down to your in-tank filter
Shoelace January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 What kind of Nanos do you have? Fluval Spec Nanos, for example, have a flow "defect" in that there is a lower grate from which the return pump can draw water, therefore the upper grate never actually effectively skims the surface. The lower grate needs to be sealed off with silicone to force the upper grate to work.
08can-am January 6, 2015 Share January 6, 2015 Doesn't the new tunze skim from the top too? The 9004 i think?
