Decadence September 6, 2014 Author Share September 6, 2014 I have built other tanks before. I went with a cheaper glass supplier this time and they didn't polish the edges after machining them and the height of the glass panes on the sides weren't perfectly even. I will probably stick with my normal supplier from now on because the glass was always flawless, even though they are more expensive. I am over-all happy with the results. I'll be giving it to my brother in about an hour. It's a birthday present and he doesn't know about it.
YHSublime September 6, 2014 Share September 6, 2014 Very cool! Pictures of your bros x2 headed turtle? What kind is it? I might have to get your glass supply persons info, I'll be DIY on a coast to coast soon.
seanoli September 6, 2014 Share September 6, 2014 I'd be interested in who supplies your glass, too. The prices I've found on the internet for custom cut glass have been insane.
AlanM September 6, 2014 Share September 6, 2014 I got my overflow box cover from Laurel Glass and will likely use them again to make glass tops for my tank. They did a good job on it, but I've never gotten anything as demanding as glass for a new tank from them.
Decadence September 6, 2014 Author Share September 6, 2014 This one was from Laurel Glass and Mirror. I normally use Hutchinson Glass and they always match the heights for me to within 1/32".
Kevin Garrison September 7, 2014 Share September 7, 2014 My wife suggested taking the turtle to DR Stahl in Fairfax. He is the leading herpatology vet in the area. There may be special needs to care for the turtle
Decadence September 7, 2014 Author Share September 7, 2014 My wife suggested taking the turtle to DR Stahl in Fairfax. He is the leading herpatology vet in the area. There may be special needs to care for the turtle Thanks for the suggestion. The turtle wasn't caught in the wild. My brother is an oddities dealer and sought out a two-headed turtle having had done a lot of research first. The turtle actually came with a specialist's evaluation and special instructions. Enkay September 8, 2014 Share September 8, 2014 Just for kicks, how much does glass for that size tank cost if you don't mind sharing? Just being curious.
