Duke's 40 Breeder Build

Duke

Recommended Posts

So I finally got around to building a stand for this 40 gallon breeder my girlfriend got me a while back ago. She picked it up from a LFS in Manassas for around 40 bucks. Pre-drilled with two 1" drain on each sides and one 1" return in the middle.

The tank is in decent shape, At least from the cosmetics. Have yet to fill it with water to check for leaks.

The tank originally came with a very light blue paint on the back. The first thing i did was strip that off and painted it all black.

For the stand.

The stand is pretty basic, it literally cost me nothing but the price of one box of decking screws since I already had all these wood lying around.

This is about all i have so far.

Not sure about the status of this build, but I took a look at your stand and don't think it will hold the weight safely. All the tank's weight will transfer to the screws holding the top frame. There needs to be wood between the top and bottom frames so that the weight from the top frame transfers to the bottom frame through wood. Not sure if my description makes sense. Let me know if you want me to draw on your picture to better illustrate my description.

Yea don't use the st and like that, knotch some 2 by 4s so that they are laying flat on the top of the stands upright legs. I just built one yesterday I will post some pics of how I did it.
