CaptainRon November 18, 2013 November 18, 2013 While doing some maintenance yesterday, I managed to drop my kalk stirrer and the little thru-spigot fell right on my sink and broke right off. I'm thinking I should be able to just use some solvent to weld the broken piece right back into it's spot and should be good to go. Sound / look like a reasonable plan?
camelcruiser November 18, 2013 November 18, 2013 Did it break cleanly into one piece? I would be a little more worried if it was a few small pieces rather then one large piece. Other then that sounds like it shouldn't be a big deal.
CaptainRon November 18, 2013 Author November 18, 2013 Yeah, it came out clean. The broken side that I didn't take a picture of it one solid piece. If you're familiar with how this is built, the acrylic that broke out is still solidly glued to the PVC as well.
DaveS November 18, 2013 November 18, 2013 if it's one piece and fits back cleanly, I would try gluing it. If not, I would consider drilling it out and using a uniseal with a short PVC pipe.
CaptainRon November 19, 2013 Author November 19, 2013 Here's what it looks like - I think pretty clean.
ctenophore November 19, 2013 November 19, 2013 That should glue up pretty easily. let me know if you need glue. Gotta love 4052, the stuff we use to bond pvc to acrylic. It makes a stronger bond than the material itself.
CaptainRon November 19, 2013 Author November 19, 2013 That's good to hear! Glad it looks like a glue type fix. I sure could use some glue - I have nothing that would be appropriate. Unless superglue gel is the right stuff
ctenophore November 19, 2013 November 19, 2013 No, don't use superglue. I'll drop some in mail today.
CaptainRon November 22, 2013 Author November 22, 2013 Thanks again Justin - I'm back up and running already!!
