So I happen to have a female fiddler crab. I have had her for about 2 months now. In all that time she has been submerged. Today I found her at the top of my heater. Now, I know fiddlers need to dry out from time to time (some people have kept them fine completely aquatic, but apparently mine would like some air). I have a few theories/thoughts. 1. Re-home her into a home that can cater to her needs. 2. Build up the rock in my fuge so she can live down there and go about her life as she wants. The problem with this plan is I have a crab that lives in the sump that is just as big as the fiddler and would probably eat her if he got the chance (here is a link to a post about Bane the sump crab). I was also thinking of doing way with the rock in favor of more macro algae. I also don't know if she would be able to get food in the sump. In the tank I was able to spot feed her when she lived in this specific hole for about a month. 3. Re-home the sump crab and return to plan 2.

I imagine re-homing Bane the sump crab would be easier as he thrives in my sump. Cathy the fiddler would be harder as she has special needs that need to be considered.

So what would you guys suggest I do? (I apologize for this post being a bit all over the place, just one of those brain dead kind of days)

Update. This post might be moot at this point. I took the crab out to let her dry, but realized she was getting cold. So I put her back on top of the heater and then she re-submerged herself into the water on the heater. I left and came back and she is nowhere to be seen, presumed to be in the tank. So hopeful theory is that if she can go up and down the heater then maybe she can survive in the display tank.

you can bring them over here to ask the mantis shrimp what he thinks of the situation.

Thank you, but no thank you.
