steveoutlaw October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 I'm getting ready to hook up my calcium reactor and want to make sure my tank is filled before I do. Anyone know of a place in Woodbridge to get the tank filled?
rioreef October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 Tagging along... I will eventually get a calcium reactor and would need a source of CO2 in the Sterling area. Anyone got a source?
rocko918 October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 Can you get them filled at a paintball shop? i know a few in the area
reelsteel October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 Do you have any welding or paintball places anywhere close, they both fill co2?
reelsteel October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 darn Bob, quit stealing my replies!!!! lol Steve what kind of regulator do you have for your reactor(did it come with it or did you buy it seperate). I am getting a calc reactor but the guy is keeping the regulator and co2 bottle.
ErikS October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 Can you get them filled at a paintball shop? i know a few in the area Absolutely under NO circumstances get it filled at a paintball place - they use oil for lubrication in the guns.............a truly bad idea for reef stuff. Look in the yellow pages for welding, fire extinguisher re-fill, or bar supplies. Bar supply is the purest generally available (food grade) but the other two will do fine. Can't help on location, I use Bars by Bud as it's close to work (Fairfax).
reelsteel October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 I'm pretty sure theres no oil in the CO2 bottle that the paintball places use( they may have some on the orings where the fittings are, but not in the bottle). If that's the case then the welding places would be of no use, cause they all get their air from the same source. I'm shooting an expnesive paintball gun and I can tell you I am not gettting any oil into the salinoid, I use both HP air and CO2 when HP is not available. Just my 2 cents.
rioreef October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 I just did some more research and I answered my own question. All, check out this link for suppliers, cost, method, and who they deal with. This is for the Wash/Balt area. CO2 Suppliers Erik, 'Bars by Bud' is listed there! cr
ErikS October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 All I can say is what I've read, no factual data. Also of note - some of those are "exchange" places - what would they do if you have a new tank?
reelsteel October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 That's cool, after I reread my post I hope it didn't sound like I was coming off too strong, I just couldn't imagine that there would be oil in there cause that would mess up some guns pretty bad not to mention reefs if people get them filled there. I will check out the guy that we rent our paintball refill tank off of and see what he says. Again Sorry if I afffended anyone, not my intention. Doug BTW I still need info on regulators for calc reactors.
ErikS October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 Again Sorry if I afffended anyone, not my intention. None taken As I said I have no facutal data - it's just often repeated on RC (like that's worth anything ) My "evidence" is hearsay.....not worth much. Be a good question to ask - Bud ain't cheap (though they usually only charge me for what they fill). My only thought - how are the guns lubricated? Are the seals self lubricating? (most high speed air driven things need some form of lube - metal to metal generally doesn't live long).
rocko918 October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 yea, there is no oil in the tanks for PB guns. PB stores get their tanks from any supplier like a welding shop.
Guest Leishman October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 robert's oxygen. the WAMAS COD acct # is 59717 we get a nice discount
fishface October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 There's one off Sterling blvd for one. I think it was near West Ox when I went in March.

reelsteel October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 The paintball guns only lubricated parts are the external bolt that is is driven by the air and pushes the ball out through the barrel. Most guns now use white grease instead of oil, which last longer and doesn't get blown through through your barrel(cause oil in your barrel makes your ball do funny stuff, like not go straight at all).
Guest Leishman October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 good @ any location, it's in their computer system. I only use it for exchange. I aksed if the disc' was good on a new regulator and they said yes (didn't get one).

Any price on the regulator and what it consisits of?
Guest Leishman October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 I only remember I didn't get the regulator as it still would need a needle valve and it would be cheeper just to add it to the MarineDepot order I was doing at the time. I don't know the cost of the tanks. I have never bought one, I have 2 that I got in trades and I just do the exchange thing with those.
flowerseller October 31, 2005 October 31, 2005 I did the 2 tank thing to and I use about 60dpm and my 20# tank last more than 5 months. I use my helium supplier from work.
