SunWyrm February 5, 2013 February 5, 2013 (edited) I know our disease expert Jan can probably ID this for me - one of my remaining huchtii's was beat up a week or two a go (pretty badly) by what I can only guess was the other anthias. She's doing great - eating Jan's food like a pig and is very friendly with the new tankmates I put her with. Well her fins aren't growing back as fast as I'd think they should and looking at her this morning she has a red spot on the top of the base of her tail with a little white that just looks like some dead scales that were there before. I don't see any other signs of infection or disease, just some ripped fins and now this new spot. Hoping I can get some advice on what to do with her, if anything, and I'd really like to not stress her out by moving her to a hospital tank. Anything I can add to the tank she's in? And how serious is this little red spot? And I KNOW you'll want pictures, I tired my heart out this morning but she won't come out for the "giant square thing" that keeps chasing her. It even freaked out my fearless dottyback. I promise I'll try again later if my description's not good enough. So here's some pics of what I couldn't resist the other day... Not the best - but I'm at work and wanted to share. Because of sads... Look at her!!! I'm so proud! She was at Petco! She was eating frozen krill for them too, now if only I could get her to eat... Mr Fearless... Ridiculously cute neon dottyback, I was eyeballing the fuzzy lionfish and he wouldn't stop trying to get my attention. He still doesn't stop! And my spotcinctus clowns cuddled in their anemone when the power went out... And in some very sad news - my husband's picasso trigger died last night. We're now triggerless - and I think it's going to stay that way for awhile... Edited February 5, 2013 by YiatzOfEden
Jan February 5, 2013 February 5, 2013 Lol, expert!!!! I couldn't even tell the difference between a majano and a new sun coral head. Some expert, LOL!!!
Jan February 5, 2013 February 5, 2013 (edited) She is beautiful but she's a carnivore. She may not eat the Complete Reef Blend. Try rinsing a large meaty chunk of my food and giving it to her or a piece of fresh fish. Quantum Reefs has bags of my Carnivore Blend available too. Look at her!!! I'm so proud! She was at Petco! She was eating frozen krill for them too, now if only I could get her to eat... Edited February 5, 2013 by Jans Natural Reef Foods
Jan February 5, 2013 February 5, 2013 (edited) A picture of the injury would really help. Take a look at pictures of injuries on wet web media and what the crew there has to say about treatment. That's what I do. Sounds like an injury. It will hide until it heals. It hides to protect itself from the other fish that will pick on it thinking it's weak because of the injury. I had a large deep water angel that came to me with a very deep wound. It took about 2 weeks to heal. It was also stressed from shipping. I agree that taking it out will stress it more. SunWyrm February 5, 2013 Author February 5, 2013 LOL, but you have the book! And that thing looked like a majano to me, but I've never been able to get sun corals to grow..and I've had some very pretty majanos. lol. She's only hiding from the camera - always hangs out with the spotcinctus clowns. It just looks a little inflamed, like a small lesion - I can't find any comparative pics as everything I find is a lot worse. I won't start really worrying until she's not active and eating - but if that happens it's probably too late. As long as she's happy, I'm happy. I tried a few chunks of your food on her second day using one of the clear feeding sticks but it freaked her out. I'm going to try and get her a better situation as right now she's just sitting on a big bunch of chaeto... If I can catch my cranky fish in the 360 and move some things around, I'd like for her to have a 29g all to herself. I just couldn't help but show her off, all that yellow... Now if only I can find a nice male for her... lol Justin would kill me.
Jan February 5, 2013 February 5, 2013 I'm sorry about the trigger fish. Bright side...replace it with a male lionfish for your female ... lol Justin would kill me.
SunWyrm February 5, 2013 Author February 5, 2013 If I find another like her - there's no stopping me.
Wes February 6, 2013 February 6, 2013 gorgeous fuzzy dwarf! one of my favorite fish! If you ever want to keep things it would eat, let me know, I've been looking for a yellow fuzzy dwarf...
