Minh B. February 1, 2013 Share February 1, 2013 Jan, is it ok if your tank has an explosion or possibly too much stomatellas?
Jan February 1, 2013 Share February 1, 2013 I don't think you can ever have too many stomatella. They're great cleaners. If they are reproducing alot I'd say you have a great environment for them. If you want to get rid of a few I'll take them.

Coral Hind February 1, 2013 Share February 1, 2013 I agree with Jan, they are great snails. I like them over any snail because they can flip themselves over instead of just sitting there upside down until they die like turbos or astreas do. If you do decide you want to lower the population just add one of the larger type wrasses and they eat them.
Tracy G February 1, 2013 Share February 1, 2013 I found a few of them and my tank as well. Had no idea what it was until now lol. Thanks for asking
Coral Hind February 1, 2013 Share February 1, 2013 If you pick them up don't freak out when they drop part of their foot off. It is a sacrificial defense that leaves the predator with something to eat so the snail can escape.
mr.x-ray February 1, 2013 Author Share February 1, 2013 Thanks. It's amazing how fast (for a snail) they are. Before I asked I caught it and put it in my fuge so I would be able to locate it later if the answers were bad. It didn't drop its tail but it does have one heck of a grip. It's back in the DT now.
