Guest Keyoke September 19, 2005 September 19, 2005 Gang, Can anyone provide me with some suggestions on a clown and anenome pair? I'm hoping to add a clarkii or ocellaris pair to the tank, and before I do I'd really like to be able to add an Anenome, tho I'm sure I'm going to have to relocate some corals first and get them off the substrate (toad, torch and yumia) Can anyone point me in a direction for an easy to keep anenome? Which ones are most likely to host a clown? Which ones are most likely to (constantly) move about the tank and will they climb rock, thus putting my few SPS corals in danger?
GaryL September 19, 2005 September 19, 2005 IME all of mine had moved stinging other things ubtil they find the exact position with the right conditions for them, and they seam to be different for my BTAs'. I have and recommend e.qaudracolor what ever the color RBTA or GBTA. and find a clone. you might be able to find a sebae that is artificially cloned (as i saw anthony calfo cut one in half) i would not recommend any magnificas (ritteri) as they are for people who are way more advanced than I am with them and they tend not to be as hardy as the others or carpets. my clarkii's host in the e.quads instintivly even though if the clowns were tank raised they may never host, but mine were ORA clowns and they went right to them when i put them in. i found this on a web page False Percula Clown Amphiprion ocellaris Carpet anemone, Ritteri (Maroon) anemone Saddle anemone Bubble anemone Percula Clown Amphiprion percula Carpet anemone, Ritteri (Maroon) anemone Saddle anemone Bubble anemone "Sebae" Clown Amphiprion clarkii Sebae anemone Long Tentacle anemone Ritteri (Maroon) anemone Carpet anemone Saddle anemone Bubble anemone Tomato Clown Amphiprion frenatus Bubble anemone Long Tentacle anemone Sebae anemone Maroon Clown Premnas biaculatus Ritteri (Maroon) anemone Bubble anemone Long Tentacle anemone Pink Skunk Clown Amphiprion perideraion Long Tentacle anemone Sebae anemone Ritteri (Maroon) anemone Carpet anemone Saddle anemone Bubble anemone Bubble anemone = Entacmaea quadricolor Long tentacle anemone = Macrodactyla doreensis Sebae anemone = Heteractis malu Ritteri (Maroon) anemone = Heteractis magnifica Carpet anemone = Stichodactyla gigantea Saddle anemone = Stichodactyla haddoni HTH Gary

reelsteel September 19, 2005 September 19, 2005 I have a pair of Clarkii's in a green carpet in one tank and in another tank I have a false perc in a sebae. I have a false perc in another tank that hosts in a softball head of green frogspawn, so I think those crazy clowns will take to just about anything!! lol
Grav September 20, 2005 September 20, 2005 The only acceptable choice for a HOSTING anenome for anyone with no experiance is E. Quad (Bubble tip) Clarkiis, Percs and Ocellarious will host in them in captivity but tank raised fish may take some time. BTAs like to sit in the rock, not sand, and will move to the location they choose. They will move when new to the tank, before and after a split and whenever not happy, your job will be to move things out of their way. Do lots of reading on their care, feeding, light requirements, picking one that is not bleached etc.
