Lee Stearns gave me a nice frag of bali slimer. I thought it was doing well but it has started to bleach. Can these things recover after they start to bleach??

Check with Lee to see if he is using the same salt as you are? I remember now that I lost mine when I changed salt mixes...

Maybe all WAMAS members should start using the same salt mix to minimize shock

I don't have the exact Alk level but it was a little low when I tested it this weekend. I have a green bali in the tank that is thriving. I guess my real question is, Will they recover from bleaching or do I need to remove it from my tank?

Leave it till it looses tissue or you spot a pest.

We heard this weekend that slimmer are more resistant, because of the slime.

Imagine that.

Try to slowly raise your ALK and retest.

I used to just double the Alk side and not the calcium side.

And then test.

You mean you can't just drop an old alkaline battery in the tank to boost your Alk?

My experience is the two greatest culprits in SPS not making it are large changes in ALk and Phos. Occasionally you will get changes in salt or lights that sps just can't quite adjust to.

I will bring the alk up slowly and see if that helps. In the meantime I've got a very rare ivory bali slimer for sale.....$1000.00

Lee- I'll keep you posted on how it goes. All others are doing well. I even had a baby head of the frogspawn break off when I was mounting it so now I have 2 frogspawn frags. I'll let you know if the slimer comes back.
