Woke up this morning to find this on my mag float. It looks like a starfish, but with one long tentacle?

Must have hitched a ride on the live rock, or the GSP (It was dipped before I put it in). Is it safe to keep with coral, or should I get it out of the tank?

Micro brittlestar - They're great scavengers. Keep 'im! Also dip tends to kill these guys so make sure to rescue them before coral/fw dipping. If you get more, they should breed easily.

have ALOT of them in my tank, as said they are great scavangers, often get peopel asking for me to include a few with frags...

fun to watch, generally sit hidden until food hits the water then you can start seeing them come out

Thanks for the quick replies!

Tank must be doing well if I am finding these guys

Indeed! I've also found that they are a good indicator of something going wrong. If I see all of them freaking out I know there's a problem and I should test. This should not be mistaken for the little parties they have when you feed the tank lol.

haha funny you say that, when i had the battery incident (cheap double a battery leak all its acid in the tank) they and the slime where the first things i saw....i went wow look at the thousand tiny stars...they look like they are waving at me...FOR HELP oh geez.
