Chad October 2, 2012 October 2, 2012 Here's the issue: the precipitation that builds up in my saltwater mixing tank clogs the intake line for my automatic water changer (which is a pain to fix). I want to put a strainer of some sort on it, does anyone have ideas on a cheap, easy, looks nice DIY solution?
Jon Lazar October 2, 2012 October 2, 2012 Parts needed: Small plastic jar Airline barb fitting Open cell sponge Put the airline fitting through the cap of the plastic jar. Cut threads and screw in, or glue in place. Cut out most of the bottom of the jar, but leave part of the bottom to help hold the sponge in. Cut a piece of sponge to fit snugly inside the jar, but not so tight that it compresses the sponge overmuch. Attach airline tubing to fitting and submerge jar on side, or drill holes to allow water ingress even if jar is resting squarely on the bottom of your resservoir.
