I just bought a custom built skimmer online. When i got it one of the intake tubes was busted. Doesn't look like it got a good seal. Anybody know a place I can get some arcylic solvent locally? I tried Home depot and Lowes But they looked at me like i was from another planet when i tried to explain what I needed.

Me: "I am looking for acrylic sealer/solvent/glue? do you guys carry anything like that?"

Them: "what's acrylic?"

Me: "It's plastic they use it for fish tanks and protein skimmers"

Them: "What's Acrylic?"

Me: "It's a special plastic"

Them: "what's it for?"

me: "It's for fish.... protein (he has the look of forrest gump in advanced physics)......... It's for a bong"

Them: "OHHHHHHHHHH Dude check it out we have these glues and stuff and ........."

( He went on and on I am not even sure if he noticed I had slipped away)

Can someone please go check on him he is in the paint section of the Sterling Home depot I left him there about 2 hours ago.

Oh yeah and the original question again,

Anybody know a local place that sell's acrylic solvent?

Thanks in advance

Go to a glass/plexiglass shop and ask for weldon.  Weldon 3 is real thin and works by capillary action while weldon 16 is thick and works well to seal gaps.  Both work by welding the acrylic back together.

Thanks a bunch!

Kinda sucks cuz I know no one will be open tomorrow. and of course I don't want to wait till monday!

[/i]To the yellow pages!

These folks not only know what you need, but will also have it on hand... or they should.

Acme Plastics in Alexandria.

Read Plastics, Rockville

Commercial Plastics & Supply, Jessup MD

I was hoping to go some place alot closer. They are a little far from me. But I guess that's what i got to do.

There is a Plastics shop off Edsall Road, Alexandria in the industrial park.  I think it is Acme Plastics as well, but they definitely have the stuff.
Try dropping kimo a line through the pm system (not sure if the K is capitalized or not).  He did have some weldon, which is what you want.  I have some weldon 60 (thicker stuff and easier to use), but live over in MD.
