spykey September 17, 2012 September 17, 2012 I recently purchased a K2 Avast kalk stirrer for my 75 gallon tank and have had it set up for about two weeks. I have a Sentry dosing pump feeding my stirrer the top off water. How do I know when to add more Kalk to the stirrer? Is there a pH change? Is it possible to add too much to the stirrer at one time? Is there a need to empty the stirrer out every so often? FYI - I started off with about 6 tablespoons of USP grade kalk in the stirrer. Thanks
Origami September 17, 2012 September 17, 2012 I always found that, when my kalk needed replenishment, the pH in my tank would trend downward. You can also, with a high-grade kalk, see that it's mostly gone. Don't run more than a week's worth of kalk in your stirrer at any one time. Also, it's not a bad idea to rinse the reactor clean about once a month.
