yagerboy June 27, 2012 June 27, 2012 (edited) Can someone please take a look and let me know what this is. It is the consistency of a smushy sponge (not as firm as say a ball sponge and is fingered throughout the rock crevices. I have always had this stuff in my tank but usually it was under rocks or in a more shaded area. This stuff gets a lot of lite and is thriving. I always assumed it was just a sponge but want to make sure. Thanks! Edited June 27, 2012 by yagerboy
yagerboy June 27, 2012 Author June 27, 2012 (edited) It is fibrous but pure white. I added a better pic from top down view, but still small. Edited June 27, 2012 by yagerboy
yagerboy June 27, 2012 Author June 27, 2012 That's it, thanks. I assume its harmless, but not the most attractive sponge!
Jan June 27, 2012 June 27, 2012 ding, ding, ding!! Angels love the stuff. Also a sign of a really healthy reef. Clathrina sponge.
Coral Hind June 27, 2012 June 27, 2012 That's it, thanks. I assume its harmless, but not the most attractive sponge! Pretty much harmless from what I've read and I couldn't find much info as to toxin levels. I would leave it unless it starts to cover up corals and it will help to clean the water. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2004/4/inverts
