Oceanic6 May 31, 2012 May 31, 2012 I am looking for a small in sump skimmer for my 30 gallon tank. I am using an eshopps RS-75 sump. There is roughly 8" X 8" of free space. What is the best skimmer I can get that would fit in that space? Any suggestions?
Oceanic6 May 31, 2012 Author May 31, 2012 The Tunze does have a small footprint that would fit into my sump nicely. However, I plan on having a mixed reef with fish and the skimmer is only rated up to 26 gallons for stony coral tanks. I'd like to find something that is rated much higher than the capacity of my tank. Thanks for the suggestion.
schudini May 31, 2012 May 31, 2012 I have an SWC Xtreme 120 Cone skimmer and absolutely love it. It has a very small footprint, pulls lots of skimmate, is easy to adjust, and (the biggest point for me) it totally disassembles for cleaning. It is running on my 20 gallon that is well stocked and fits in my tiny sump.
Oceanic6 June 1, 2012 Author June 1, 2012 The SWC Skimmer is pretty highly rated. I will seriously consider that one. Thanks for the suggestion. How wide is the widest portion of the skimmer? The base looks about 7", but the widest part looks to be about 9".
