Thanks guys ... the Media Reactor Kit went together flawlessly and should be in operation later today - pending your answer

 

When I was researching reactors and media, most of the media information said to soak it in RO water for 24h prior to reef use. I did NOT see this on your media package. What is your (or any WAMAS member) recommendation re: pre-soak?

Hi Glenn,

 

No need to soak, at least I've never done that. Some will float at first, they will sink after they get coated with bacteria in a few days. For refills, you might try soaking in tank water for a few days to build up the bacteria before putting them in the reactor, to avoid floaters.

 

Tips: take out the foam pad. Not needed for biopellets. Use only the mesh. Also, put mesh at the top to keep floaters from escaping.

haha recognise that white tub....good lill mod, may have to give it a try on mine...the lower mesh keeps getting clogged cause my pump is in the dirty hard to reach part of the sump.

I just finished my water changed, cleaned up the sump, hooked it to a Mag-2 and she's bubbling away ... now to see how long before the green stuff on the glass stops appearing ..........
