Well I finally came up with my fish wish list for my 55 gallon FOWLR tank. But this is what is in the tank already, 2 Ocellaris Clowns, 5 astera snails, 8 small nassarius snail, 2 small bumble bee snails, 2 small emerald crabs, 1 scarlet hermit crab, and 5 pepermint shrimp.

My fish list:

1 bicolor blenny

1 six line wrasse or 1 flasher wrasse

1 flame angel since I will not be using this tank for corals

and 2 Blood red fire shrimp

I hope that, that is not to many fish for that size of a tank.

fyi sixlines can become rather mean fish, a flasher or other pretty wrasse would be better imo, but if you dont have a canopy or cover it will end up on the floor. Flame angels are awesome and beautiful esp since youre not keeping corals. Bicolor blennys are great fish, lots of personality. Really you can go with lots of other REALLY cool fish since its a FOWLR. Some of the butterflies are really nice, there are some other really nice pygmy angels, like flame backs.. Are you planning to grow macros or anything like that in the DT (display tank)... Nothing against youre list, great fish, but for the most part reef safe, with not having to worry about coral chompers I think you could find some other interesting fish. Sorry if that came off the wrong way, I meant it in the nicest of ways.!!

My plan right now is get everything up and running and if everything goes well in a year I will upgrade to 250 gallon tank and I will have corals in that tank. My main concern with doing corals in my 55 gallon tank is the price of lighting for it. as per the fish jumping I do have the standard tops that came with the tank when I bought with the lights but I know that they will not work for corals. I primarily want very colorful fish that move around and don't hide all of the time.

You can easily make a nice sreen top for the tank. I believe there is DIY thing on wamas for them. You can also light a 55 for a very reasonable price. 4 T5s is plenty on a 55g to grow anything you want. You can get a nice group of cardinals, several to choose from, some of the pretty wrasses can be kept in groups or mixed species as well.. Chromis are nice active group fish, but again very common. Though there are variations of them. A midas blenny is very pretty, nice choice for almost any tank. Your tank is probably to small for a group of anthias, but they are VERY active and beautiful. Im sure there is lots of other good choices. If you havent look at liveaquaria.com its a good resource, or an even better resource is to go and visit the LFS and talk to them. There are some great stores in this area with employees and owners that are extremely helpful.! Or go around and visit other club members tanks and see what theyve got going on. You would be amazed at how inspiring other members tanks can be.

I would do:

1 - Butterfly of some sort.

2- Flame Angel.

3- Toby Puffer of some sort.

4. Blenny is cool.

5. Fire shrimp are awesome.

6. Longnose hawk fish are cool.

7. Flasher/fairy Wrasse (reef safe).

Your list looks good as a start imo.

Thanks for all of the insight guys. I plan on going to a couple different LFS's this weekend to get some ideas, I will be going to BRK for sure since they are where I got my 2 clowns from. I am going to look more into the cost of lighting depending on what I find out I might end up doing corals depending on how much the lighting will cost me.

I got my Flame angel from roosens in clinton. its was $42 and 3" long so almost full grown. most places are charging much more. i have alot of LPS and some SPS in my tank and it has never touched anything! some do some dont but i feel its worth the risk IMO.
