Incredible Corals November 24, 2011 Share November 24, 2011 My yellow tang has intestinal worms and from what I'm reading online I can dose Prozipro to the tank with very little side effects. Anyone ever dose it in their reef?
dakotasreef November 24, 2011 Share November 24, 2011 Yes, I have in my sps tank. Some of the acros slimed a bit, but no damage to any corals or inverts I can tell. I did have some clear flatworms that were never seen again after treatment. All fish are healthy. Just make sure to leave skimmer on without the collection cup to help keep o2 levels up. Have water made for change after treatment. And carbon ready to go invade problem does surface.

Was going to do a 30 gallon w/c before and after the treatment.
zygote2k November 25, 2011 Share November 25, 2011 I'd caution against using prazipro in a reef because it's much likelier that it will cause some sort of issue down the road. Catch the fish or let it ride the parasites out.

Fish seems just fine eating, swimming and very active. Just pooping strings
Coral Hind November 25, 2011 Share November 25, 2011 I've never seen a fish rid themselves of internal parasites. If you really think it is infected then I would treat it.

GraffitiSpotCorals November 25, 2011 Share November 25, 2011 I can't remember if its prazipro (thinking it was something different) or not but I know we have had luck with soaking food in the medication and feeding it to the sick fish.
Incredible Corals November 25, 2011 Author Share November 25, 2011 $20 Yt or tank full of corals.... I was thinking it could spread to rest of the fish and was thinking.... 17 fish vs tank full of corals. I have read that fish can just live with it depending on the type of parasite. That is what I would like to do but your not supposed to soak food in Prozipro because you don't know how much you are giving the fish and you can overdose and kill Let me know if you remember the name of the food/med. Thanks!
GraffitiSpotCorals November 25, 2011 Share November 25, 2011 Pretty sure it was metro now that I think about it, we werent using it for internal parasites so I can't say if it treats that.
