daharley October 26, 2011 October 26, 2011 Got home from work today and my moorish idol has what appears to be a knife wound. I assume he pushed his lick with one of the tangs he is probably the most pushy fish in the tank. Is there anything I should do to help him out or just let him be. He is swimming around as much as ever and still eating.
tightline October 26, 2011 October 26, 2011 (edited) lmao sorry not funny but i would leave him alone might stress him worse if you try to catch Edited October 26, 2011 by tightline
SunWyrm October 26, 2011 October 26, 2011 I would just put in some marine stress coat for him and leave him as long as it doesn't get worse. <3 Stress coat
Coral Hind October 27, 2011 October 27, 2011 I would just let it be. I have seen the same puncture wounds and cuts from tangs and they have never caused any deaths. If it starts to look like it is getting infected then medicate the fish.
surf&turf October 27, 2011 October 27, 2011 My Kole sliced my female tomato clown from her top fin to her bottom. It healed just fine. She just has a little scar.
daharley October 27, 2011 Author October 27, 2011 Those things must be sharp i have seen razor blade cuts more jagged.
Coral Hind October 27, 2011 October 27, 2011 Yeah, they do leave nice clean cuts. Maybe that's why they call them scalpels and surgeonfish.
Saltwaterworx October 27, 2011 October 27, 2011 Definitely keep me posted. I know that Moorish is a trooper!
daharley October 27, 2011 Author October 27, 2011 Will do he seems to be ok. Not that I want it to happen to anyone but it had to be the hard to keep one
