JerryJ June 11, 2011 June 11, 2011 Hi, I'm thinking of getting a yellow banded possum wrasse. Based on recent unpleasant parasitical experiences, I would like to do a FW dip for new arrivals whenever possible. But I think I heard at some point that wrasses don't tolerate FW dips very well. Does anyone have any relevant experiences in this area? Thanks, Jerry
Coral Hind June 11, 2011 June 11, 2011 I would not dip the wrasse as it will go into shock very fast. If you really insist on it then be ready to remove the fish as soon as it starts to lay on it's side. If you are FW dipping to control ich then read up more as it doesn't totally cure ich.
Coral Hind June 11, 2011 June 11, 2011 I recommend reading the post at the following link. http://www.reefsanctuary.com/forums/fish-diseases-treatments/23132-marine-ich-myths-facts.html
Chad June 11, 2011 June 11, 2011 I wouldn't freshwater dip either. Also, many wrasses are prone to internal parasites which is better treated with something like prazipro (which you can soak food in).
