steveoutlaw June 10, 2011 June 10, 2011 How can you tell when your RO membrane has gone bad? Mine is probably 2 years old but it's still putting out water like a champ. Should you replace it every couple of years or can you wait until it stops producing water (or drastically slows). Thanks.
mogurnda June 10, 2011 June 10, 2011 I usually get 2-3 years out of mine. I have a TDS meter inline between the RO and DI, and know it's time to change it when the TDS starts to rise.
extreme_tooth_decay June 10, 2011 June 10, 2011 I am on my 5th year with my current membrane. I do not use DI resin. It is still producing TDS 4 or 5 water. I will replace it when the TDS is above 20.
DaveS June 10, 2011 June 10, 2011 When my TDS out of the membrane creeps up, I do a flush for a bit. That usually allows it to drop back down to tolerable levels. When it doesn't come back down, then I'd replace.
amay121 June 10, 2011 June 10, 2011 I use DI, and when my TDS goes beyond 7 then I replace. Also, I do notice that the DI gets used a lot faster when the membrane is shot.
