GraffitiSpotCorals March 23, 2011 March 23, 2011 (edited) I have three people that are able to help lift the tank. Its a 7' by 2' by 2' oceanic so it should be heavy I am guessing 6 people should do it. Is all I will need help with is the lifting part so anyone who lives around Bell Air MD and can help PLEASE give me a shout. Or anyone who wants to ride up with us and help out that would be great. I think someone is going to let me borrow three suction cups, hopefully that will make it easier. I am not sure if it has to go down stairs or anything but I will call him and ask tonight. I can either pay your gas or give you some rock or coral that is from the tank if you want to meet me up there. I can't tell you what shape the rock or coral is in, I know its mostly softies and I have a pic of the tank in my other thread. I will give you directions if your interested in hepling, we don't have too many friends to ask. Oh yea I plan on being there around 9 or 9:30 so the tank will not be ready to lift until we get all the rock and everything out and into bins, so if you are going to help us lift it and live in MD it should be ready by 11 or 12 I am guessing? Anyone who wants to ride up with us, we are leaving my house about 7 in the mourning on Sat so you can meet us here if you want. Edited March 23, 2011 by Piper27
amay121 March 23, 2011 March 23, 2011 Suggestion for you. 1) Get on CMAS and ask folks to help load the tank, they actually may live closer to where you're picking up the tank. 2) Get on WAMAS and ask folks to help unload the tank, these folks may live closer to where you're unloading. I would help out, but I should be getting a tank this weekend too. :( Good luck though.
FearTheTerps March 23, 2011 March 23, 2011 Dont know how many people you will find on here north of Baltimore. If you dont find anyone close I can help out. Still a bit of a drive, but at least its in MD.
GraffitiSpotCorals March 23, 2011 Author March 23, 2011 Yea I am going to post on CMAS next thanks though, and unloading the tank shouldn't be as bad, if you can help unload the tank later Sat in Manassas let me know, it will be around 6 I would guess.
zygote2k March 23, 2011 March 23, 2011 A 200 gallon tank will only need 4 people max to pick it up and go down the stairs/ up the stairs. I've moved a 180 with myself and another ogre. Only 4 people really had any weight when Dave Sun's tank was moved into his basement. If you have a level floor to move across, it's easy to roll a big tank across it on pvc pipes. If you have to move it across wet ground, it's easier to put a piece of carpet underneath the tank and drag the whole thing across the ground. I did this with a 240 last year and it only took 2 people to move it and 3 to lift it. I moved an Oceanic Ultimate 210 last year with 2 other people and it was plenty. More than 4 people will get in each other's way. Good Luck.
Guest thefishman65 March 23, 2011 March 23, 2011 I have my kids this weekend, but I can help with unloading if you get stuck and if is quick. ie Call me and I should be able to get there in 20 minutes, but I don't have time to stand around while you hem and haw about where you are putting it . If I didn't have my children well time isn't so important.
GraffitiSpotCorals March 23, 2011 Author March 23, 2011 Yea I think 4 should do it, Marty said he can get his son to help and another member is coming with me and my friend, so if anyone is available Sat evening to help unload the tank let me know.
